PANIC ROOM picked up the award for BEST NEW BAND at the Classic Rock Society 2008 Awards, on the strength of their debut album 'Visionary Position' and their live performances through the year .  Singer, Anne-Marie Helder, guitarist, Paul Davies and keyboard player, Jonathan Edwards attended the event on 10th January where they were presented with the award by former Genesis guitarist, Steve Hackett.

Established Welsh prog band, Magenta, picked up 4 awards on the night including Best Band. Panic Room's Anne-Marie Helder was also voted 2nd in the Best Female Singer category with Magenta's Christina Booth winning the award.  Other award winners included Pendragon, It Bites & Oliver Wakeman.

http://theclassicrocksociety.blogspot.com/2007/07/about-crs.html - I can't trust anyone who doesn't know the difference between IT'S and ITS.

Aren't "Classic Rock Society" and "Best New Band" incompatible concepts? Or am I reading too much into the name?

I don't know anything about Panic Room so I can't comment on that.

Well done Panic Room, now get the Milton Keynes Stables on your agenda for touring this year, as I want to come and see you there. Ann-Marie knows it, having played there with Mostly Autumn earlier this year! Nice venue and you'll be most welcome there!
