Just wondering what everyone's favorite purely acoustic prog albums and/or songs are? I was enjoying Pain of Salvation's excellent Live album 12:5, which is an all acoustic set, and it got me thinking of what else is out there in this regard. Well I'll go with the obvious classic songs: Horizons and Mood for a Day are simply beautiful acoustic tunes. |

I agree with both the previous posts, but people might also want to check out Yes Songs from Tsongas DVD, which has, on disc two, an exceptional Yes do acoustic section from that tour. Fantastic.

Tangerine Dream, just kidding. As far as artists that put out a lot of acoustical albums, I really like Anthony Phillips. I believe the Geese and the Ghost was all acoustic. Antiques, certainly so. Probably my favorite acoustical prog song of all time would have to be Hackett's Horizons. Some other artists coming into the mental cuisinart, League of Crafty Guitarists Lots of stuff on the ECM, not all would be accepted as prog around these parts. This one might blow your socks off: Hellborg + Buckethead + Shrieve, Octave of the Holy Innocents Larry Coryell has some good acoustic stuff out. Old favorite, European Impressions. Oregon, Roots In The Sky. Favorite song, probably Icarus. Al Dimeola. Particular Friday Night In San Francisco with McLaughlin and De Lucia. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I don't know much ALBUMS that yu may qualify as acoustic prog.
Though, as far as it may be considered as prog (which is another debate, I admit), Cam Newton (The motive behind the smile) and some Osamu Kitajima (Benzaïten).
Harmonium's "Si on avait une cinquième saison" is something to listen to. You'll surely like it.
