New drummer, new live dates and new album underway

Blimey. It seems Also Eden newsletters are like buses; you wait ages for one to come and then along come two in one month! Hot on the heels of the news that our Simon is being drafted into Francis Dunnery’s New Progressives, we’ve a whole bunch of new things to shout about!

Welcome, Dave

Following the departure of Tim Coleman in December 2008, Also Eden are extremely pleased to welcome new drummer Dave Roelofs into the fold.

Dave – or Deef in his native Dutch – comes from Tegelen (Holland) and is now resident in Swansea, South Wales. Dave played with prog/fusion band “Inflection” and with prog metal band “Soulcatcher” prior to moving to the UK. He brings with him a creative and detailed sound that further builds on the excellent foundations laid by Tim. The band is busy rehearsing the live set and also writing new material for album number three (provisionally titled “album number three”) and it’s fair to say that everyone is very excited about how it’s sounding.

So, the proof of this particular pudding will come in a series of live shows lined-up for 2009.

“It’s kind of you to ask” and “About time” repressed

We were totally blown away by the universally positive response to our second album, “It’s kind of you to ask”. The album has picked up excellent reviews around the world and the first pressing of 1000 units sold out within the first four months of release (not great if you’re Robbie Williams, but pretty good for a self-financed prog band!). The album has now been repressed and is back in stock. A side effect of the success of IKOYTA (as it’s known by the band) has been a renewed interest in the first album, “About time”, which has also been recently repressed. A two-CD deal on our website ( http://www.alsoeden.com/ - www.alsoeden.com ) has proved very popular and more ‘bundle’ deals will become available with new T-shirts due in the next few weeks.

New album

2009 is looking like being a busy year for Also Eden and writing for the new album is high on the band’s agenda. There are already several songs that are shaping up well and we have ideas for about a thousand more! If all goes according to plan (YEAH, RIGHT … LIKE WE EVER HAD ONE!), we hope to start recording towards the end of the year for a release early in 2010.

So, there we are; Also Eden renewed, shiny bright and ready to take on the world. Well … the proggy parts, anyway!

Hope to see you at the gigs.

Huw, Ian, Simon, Bruiser and Dave
