Check this out from the crappiest newspaper on the planet this morning. Sorry my computer won`t link. it`s a piece of crap too.

www.montrealgazette.com/Life/Toddler+MENSA+member/1551643/story.html

Probably won`t work. It`s about a 2 year old kid in England who became the youngest member of MENSA with an IQ of 156.

The IQ of children are measured a different way than that of the adults. I went to a weekend course years ago (for six years), the leader was also member of the Mensa. We did there IQ tests, one of them showed mine was around 170, but this data slowly decreased as the years passed by.

And why do they mention, that she knows 35 capitals? That is knowledge, not intelligence (however, a great result from such a small child.

Sad. a couple of weeks ago a couple of cops in Newfoundland who should have known better arrested an autistic 18 year-old for being "drunk" in public and threw him in the drunk tank. I think the mother is pressing charges against the officers.

Well it's not like they're hurting it. I would guess that they know it's nearly impossible it has swine flu, but better to be on the safe side, even if those precautions do nothing.

In his defense, it did kill his brother. It's harder to be understanding of the impulses of animals after something like that happens.

Whereas I don't particular think it's fair to throw a goddamn grenade at an animal that reacted to your brother's profoundly retarded antics.

"A student at a fundamentalist Baptist school that forbids dancing, rock music, hand-holding and kissing will be suspended if he takes his girlfriend to her public high school prom, his principal said"

That is epicly sad, wow.
BECAUSE OMG HOLDING HANDS AND KISSING YOUR GF IS TEH DEVIL, THE DEVIL I TELL YA.
I once brought my girlfriend (at the time) into the school grounds of my school, (she went to a school an hour drive away), gave her my school jumper to wear and GOD FORBID held hands with her as we walked around.
Quite to my amusement, none of the teachers at my school even seemed to notice I was walking around with someone from another school. Had a teacher noticed, I probably would have copped a one day suspension at most though. But hey, point is, they didn't mind us holding hands, hehe.
But wow, forbids rock music? What a freakin' joke.
Let's not let people decide for themselves what they should listen to when in the school property. People don't need their personal freedomsDead
All these things where fundamentalist school have these draconian rules give me the sh*ts.
What are they trying to do, produce a society full of non thinking people who let anyone else in a higher position above them make decisions for them? urghh.

I don't know why, but folks from Georgia seem to show up on those cop chase shows with waaay too much frequency. LOL

"New Yorkers finished last. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/daily-news/080523-The-Worst-Drivers-in-the-U-S-Live-in-/ - Last year's loser, New Jersey , improved its score just enough to leap over New York. Hawaii, California and Georgia rounded out the bottom five."

Geeze Hawaii? I've driven there and it didn't seem nearly as bad as Georgia. Maybe people in too much of a hurry to get to the beach? Tongue

No suprise there that one was coming.

In other news, the UKs Royal Air Force Red Arrows formation team just anounced that the first female pilot will be joining the team for the 2009-10 season. Flt. Lt. Kirsty Moore who had previously instructed on Hawk jet trainers currently flies Tornado GR.4s based at RAF Cottesmore will start training with them this fall. Although a first for the UK I believe the American Thunderbirds were the first jet demonstration team to assign a woman as a pilot in the formation. The Aussies currently have one in their Roulettes team. A woman also flew for two seasons in Canada`s Snowbird demo team.

The Brits differ somewhat from most other teams in that their pilots must have at least 1500 hours on "fast" jets wheras the Canadians and Aussies take guys and gals from transport, maritime patrol rotary wing as well as fast jet backgrounds.

But these women. Who do they think they bloody well are !!! They should be in the kiitchen preparing meals Angry!!!

( just kidding about that last bit Big smile )

The Japanese are not too happy about this at all because they know from experience. Send in the B-1s and carpet bomb them into oblivion.

So much for a free and open society if that stuff ever gets in the wrong hands.

On this important anniversary of D Day, my heartfelt thanks to all who protect free people-past, present, and future. Without their sacrifice we would not enjoy the lives we have. For me personally, I thank an Uncle Wally that I never knew....who was among the first on the beaches of Normandy. Heart But I thank them all, those in every conflict who have given their all.

But if we get rid of all those plastic bags then the oil companies will suffer.

Note: I heard about a recent study that showed those reusable cloth bags shouldn't be used for food shopping due to them harboring bacteria. I wouldn't think that it would be a problem unless you don't wash your veggies/fruits once you get home.

So I don't know what to make of this one, just heard it on the news.
In Texas a cop tased a 72 year old woman.
However, she was speeding and when he gave her a ticket she refused to sign it and got pretty belligerent. On video tape you can actually hear her saying "go ahead and arrest me" and tried to get back in her car several times. When he finally said, "If you dont stop I'm going to have to tase you" she said, "I dare you"

Those feisty old women I tell ya.

Filthy river water sickens triathletes

The Oklahoma State Department of Health confirmed Wednesday that a stretch of the Oklahoma River was to blame for sickening at least 45 triathletes last month, saying the water was filled with parasites, viruses and other contaminants associated with animal and human waste. There were 367 participants in the May 16-17 Boathouse International Triathlon in Oklahoma City, which was held after a heavy rain and included a 1.5-kilometer swim. A total of 45 reported symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting and fever.

OK, how about we have him attacked by abused pit bulls and pull them off just in time so he spends a really long time in the hospital?

Actually, when it comes to the death penalty I admit to being conflicted. It should be used really sparingly.

Some really bad news for Jack The Ripper fans, this is from the London Daily Telegraph which I recieve about a week late in Montréal.

The character of Jack The Ripper was invented by journalists to sell newspapers, and his East end London murder spree was actually the work of several unrelated killers according to a new book.
Senior police officials who investigated the 1888 murders were convinced they were not the work of a single man, research by the historian Dr. Andrew Cook has uncovered. A letter, boasting about the killings signed by a "Jack The Ripper" was forged by a journalist at the Star newspaperin an attempt to sustain sales that had been swollen by it`s salicious coverage of the crimes. This fed a panic that engulfed the Victorian capital and allowed copycat killers to get away with further murders Dr. Cook claims in a new book Jack The Ripper : Case Closed, a culmination of 5 years of studying London`s most notorious " serial killer".

My copy is on rush order.

AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Ferocious, pack-feeding jumbo squid have invaded waters off California's central coast and are devouring local fish populations...
...
As big as the squid are, it is often very difficult to know where the deep sea creatures are lurking at any given time.
...
"They are aggressive, pugnacious, voracious, predators," says Robison. He says the creatures grow from the size of a person's little finger up to two metres in length and 45 kilograms in weight in a year, and are known to eat their own kind.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn12315-californias-attack-of-the-jumbo-squid.html - California's attack of the jumbo squid - environment - 23 July ...

http://www.newscientist.com/data/images/ns/cms/dn12315/dn12315-1_500.jpg"> Jumbo squid (&amp;amp;amp;lt;I&amp;amp;amp;gt;Dosidicus gigas&amp;amp;amp;lt;/I&amp;amp;amp;gt;) first appeared off Monterey, California during an El Niño event which warmed waters in 1997. Since 2002 they have taken up permanent residence (Image: Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute)

Can't we just eat them or something? Fry 'em up good, dip in some marinara...
