We received a request to evaluate Jean-Jacques TOUSSAINT for inclusion on PA.  He is on the Musea Label and recently released a new album called Travelling.  He was the keyboardist for the band Tiemko, which are included here on PA.

Here is the information that he sent regarding the new album.

Jean-Jacques TOUSSAINT was TIEMKO's keyboards player, a french band that created an original brand of music in the late Eighties and early Nineties, influenced by Progressive rock bands such as KING CRIMSON, but also by classical and contemporary music, jazz-rock and experimental music. For the recording of the explicit "Travelling - From Tiemko To Travelling" (Musea, 2009), the artist featured numerous musicians like guitarist Rémy CHAUVIDAN (TIEMKO), drummer François VERLY (Jac La GRECA), and others on accordion, trumpet, saxophone, violin or cello. This chamber orchestra played thirteen instrumental pieces with very diverse instrumentation, length, atmospheres and musical inspirations. It goes from jazz to Progressive rock and experimental music, including classical influences, and even, here or there, electro hints. Versatile keyboards, suggestive melodies and harmonies which sometimes recall the almighty TIEMKO... A brilliant piece of work !

^ I'll give a yes vote to Toussaint. What an oddly eclectic band, hard to believe all those songs were by the same band.

You're absolutely right, this is as eclectic as it gets and  this is how it's presented in their description on their myspace, from contemporary music to progressive rock (and everything in between, including electronic)

Don't think this fits in JRF.
Not sure Eclectic covers this type as well, at least by their definition, I think. This album is a mix of styles, but each song has its style, there is no mixing in the songs themselves.
Hmmm.... maybe Avant? Not sure about that...

Anyway, I really like the music!

Bump.  I edited the title of the thread to also suggest avant as a category.  I mentioned them to Pat in passing in the SR room, but to make it a bit more official.

Unfortunately, I don't know if anything happened with this suggestion.

Unfortunately, we don't have a very effective systematic process in place for tracking bands and the evaluation process or for following movements between teams so many do fall through he cracks in terms of approval (not to mention that many that are approved don't get added, and I know I've been guilty there with suggestions of mine).

I like what I'm hearing at myspace http://www.myspace.com/jeanjacquestoussaint -

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

You guys need to send a PM to Dick Heath and Alucard, if you get one more yes from either of them to go with my yes vote, they're in.

I vaguely remember that we didn't think this was right for RIO/Avant.

some interesting moments,  quite a mix of genres, RIO, Avant Jazz, BTW the second track is a carbon copy of Mahavishnus 1000 Island Park, too much programmed sound for my taste (awfull synth sounds, sounds sometimes like some cheesy Z-movie horror flic soundtrack
Yes for me,  but where? he has an overall symphonic approach (in the Wendy Carlos way) so why not symphonic....

Bump.

So I guess this went no where, too bad.
Could this be resurrected and re-evaluated now?

Actually when I re-read the posts, he got a yes from me and Martin, but Martin is suggesting they go somewhere besides JR-F.
