Igginbottom biography

Igginbottom was formed in 1968 by guitarist and vocalist Allan HOLDSWORTH, bassist Mick SKELLY, drummer Dave FREEMAN, and lead guitarist Steve ROBINSON. The band combined played bluesy fusion with some jazz elements, but their main musical styling was fusion. The band was managed by a so-called company called "Mimo", consisting of Mick JACKSON, Mo BACON, Ronnie SCOTT (the owner of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club) and SCOTT's then-to-be business partner Peter KING.

The band only released one album, called Igginbottom's Wrench, in 1969 under the Deram (Camel's Mirage) record label. It was produced by M.J.M. Productions, consisting of three members of the band The Love Affair, two of them already being in the so-called company "Mimo".

Not a lot of MP3s, but I guarantee I will find a way to upload the ones I have.

It is felt that Igginbottom is a band with which the part of Rock, Blues, and Jazz is united well. It might look like the content of 1st Album of Patto. Anyway, I think that it is a unique band. And, I like album of Igginbottom.

Thanks for the suggestion Blowin Free, let me give you a little break down on how the JR team functions here. The core team is myself, Dick Heath and Alucard. Any JR artists must recieve at least two yes votes from one of us three to be added. Our team also includes many helpers including Kazuhiro, Raff, Micky, Rocktapus and Darkshade to name just a few.

What we are looking for is the most PROGRESSIVE in the field of JR/Fusion. This can include ground breaking artists such as Miles Davis or Weather Report who created unheard of music by constantly pushing the boundries and making significant innovations, or it can include JR artists who have a strong prog-rock element in their music ie Bill Bruford, David Sancious or Jean Luc Ponty.

I listened to the song by Igginbottom and I thought it was interesting and maybe had some potential, but we can't base our decision on one song. If you can come up with more material I will check it out, but keep in mind, my standards for this site are pretty darn high. It's important that site members who want to propose bands do the background work involved because Alucard, Dick and myself are often busy with a backlog of artists that have been approved but not added yet.

It is probably better if you email those to Easy Money rather than posting them on the General Forum.

^ actually his post is fine, I've got my eye on this thread, be patient, it will take a few days to check this out. It would help if the link was 'live' but since none of my links are live, I can't complain.

He means that you didn't use the 'Add Hyperlink' function when posting your links, so that he has to copy and paste the URL into the search bar of his browser, instead of just clicking on the link to open it.

This link isn't working or something, if it's just one song then it wouldn't be enough for an evaluation anyway. If your trying to get someone on PA you have to provide the info that makes it easy for the people who will be doing the work on the other end.
You also need to send a PM to Dick Heath and Alucard and tell them about this thread, because their opinions on this band are needed too.

I'll try, and I guess it's unavailability is because of users downloading it, it may only be downloaded 10 times.

You can try, but I don't see the point - if 'Igginbottom were playing Jazz Rock that was not deemed Progressive by the Jazz Rock team, then I can't see Hugues and the Folk team taking them.

Perhaps a better idea would be to ammend either Holdsworth's or Tempest's biography to mention this stage in a young Holdworth's career and leave it at that.

Also, as "Wrench" was later released as under the "Allan Holdsworth & Friends" name you could ask the JR/F team if the album could be included under his solo discography.

Adding Igginbottom to the Holdsworth discography seems like a reasonable idea, I will take that idea to the rest of the JR team.

I wouldn't take this non-folk album to the folk team though.
