elephant9 is a fun, intense and complex progressive jazz rock band with hints of psychedelia.

This is a Norwegian band. Their amazing drummer Torstein Lofthus also plays for the avant/RIO act Shining, who already have an entry in the archives. Much of the music revolves around Ståle Storløkken's keys - he also plays for the avantjazz band Supersilent (who also should be added, btw - I notice they were discussed here: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=45102&PN=2 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=45102&PN=2 but I can't find a conclusion).

A video can be found here: http://desibel.bergen360.no/-/event/show/96429/937104?ref=mst&return_url=%2F-%2Fevent%2Fshow%2F96429%3Fref%3Dmst - http://desibel.bergen360.no/-/event/show/96429/937104?ref=mst&return_url=%2F-%2Fevent%2Fshow%2F96429%3Fref%3Dmst

As far as I have been able to find out, they have only released one album, the 2008 "Dodovoodoo".

Some characterizations by the press (found here: http://www.vagant.no/kalender/55992_oslo-experimental-pres-elephant9-rune-grammofon-dj-g-ha/forestilling/80573 - http://www.vagant.no/kalender/55992_oslo-experimental-pres-elephant9-rune-grammofon-dj-g-ha/forestilling/80573 ):

“Elephant9 have set fire to all headgear, shaking free their straggly manes for a deranged session of acid prog headbanging” (BBC)
“Keep an eye out for Elephant9—they’re amazing.” (All Music, US)
“This ferocious drum/bass/organ assault opens the Norwegian jazz trio´s debut album and manages to retain a weapons-grade level of instrumental mayhem throughout. Not for the faint of heart.” (Mojo´s Top Ten, UK)
“On more of a Scandi-jazz tip – but with nods to Hendrix, Berlin-era Bowie, Tangerine Dream and Fripp alongside mid-70s Miles.” (Time Out, UK)
“Shockingly great Norwegian jazz-rock band who add a bit of modernity and noise to the old school sound of overdriven organ and Rhodes piano (plus some synthesizer), along with electric bass and drums.” (Waysidemusic, US)

Any takers?

Definitely support this suggestion.
I suggested them in the past (there's a thread I opened about it somewhere), don't know what happened with the suggestion.

Great band.   It's already been approved for JRF and just needs to be added.

Good to hear. What about Supersilent, have you considered them as well?

I'm not on the JRF team or any team now.  I can remember Supersilent being mentioned in threads at the forum, but don't know if it's been formally suggested,
