Led Zeppelin meets Grace Slick on top of a mellotron...Shocked
This would be a pretty accurate description regarding their newest release called "In the Future", whereas the debut leans more towards the rock nī roll side of things. - I love both, and one of the most satisfying aspects of this band is the drummer, who has a distinct sound that sorta reminds me of Simon Kirke from Free. They both have the ability to sound very tight and slouchy at the same time, which is a very difficult thing to do succesfully (- this is coming from a drummerWink) The male vocals sound a bit like Jack White from The White Stripes, and they work beautiful alongside the female, that really has a Grace Slick vibrato embeded.
Back on point - Is it my imagination or shouldnīt this band be in the prog-related/crossover genre?

Listen to the new album and tell me there isnīt proggy undertones to the likes of "Tyrants", "Bright Lights" and "Night Walks"? Either way, you should check this band out, I saw them at the Roskilde Festival a few years back and it was pure joy to plunge back in time through this strange and psychedelic audio-time machineClap
NI!!!

The last new artist for me I've ordered albums of (In the Future and their debut been listening to since early October).  Outside of your Led reference, I'm really not familiar with any of the other artists you're making comparisons to.  The closest thing that comes to my mind is Curved Air.  By the way, they are currently under evaluation for PA addition, I put in a vote for psych rather than crossover.

By the way, if feel up to writing a band bio, that might help push things along...Big smile

They modified their "sound" on the latest album towards a more psychedelic and adventorous approach, thatīs for sureLOL
I am listening to "Tyrants" 4 or 5 times a day, and Iīve been doing so for the last couple of weeksTongue -All though the new Zombi release "Animal Spirit" is getting quite a few spins lately! Gotta love those elephantsClap Trunks should be on everybody - it would surely improve on Gordon Brown methinksWink
Curved Air was also one of the first things that popped in the old kazeeba, when i first heard them, though BM relies much more on the Jimmy Page-like riffs swept around the hopping rhythmsection than the former does IMHO.
On another note: The concert at Roskilde was only scheduled for an hour, and when I thought the first song was over, it was actually the whole concert finishing offConfused
Jamming is an essential part of their sound, especially when they tour and the festival should have accounted for that, instead of leaving us with a mighty untouchable bonerCry

While Black Mountain have been added to Crossover, if, at some later date, it is decided to move them to Psyche/Space then there are no objections from the Crossover team.

Iīll second that. If they keep the heading their on now,  theyīll fit in the Psyche/Space genre like socks in shoes. I for one am looking forward to their next release, hoping for more adventures in the psychedelic department.
BTW I just wrote the first BT review. I hope others with more "reviewing experience" (he he) will follow in my footsteps.

I was advocating the P/S R genre.  I think the Crossover team took pity on them and that's why they were placed there.  Not to worry, artists get moved around all the time due to the subjective nature of things.  Good to see them here and maybe a few good reviews might make the P/S R team reconsider.  There's so much music happening out there that sometimes and artist won't get a fair hearing for a while.  Don't sweat it and keep on reviewing. Big smile

The Black Mountain that the band was named after will be an important place for the Winter Olympics ski events (as part of Cypress Bowl in West Vancouver and events will be on two mountains that form a bowl ) and since I was young, and lived downhill from it, it was a mountain I'd spend a lot of time on.  It would be neat if the band performs up Cypress during the Olympics (so the guys doing ski aerials etc. have something to listen to while they goof off ;)). Black Mountain at Black Mountain 2010.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Well the genres arenīt that important to me anyways. I like the fact that they sort the music, so that it refrains from being one big muddy swamp. An overview instead of something factual - you can take to the bank...
And Iīll keep reviewing if my studies allow for itSmile. Sometimes I choose to sit back and close my eyes to the tunes, instead of sucking every bit of band-information in like some kind of sponge...
