Great keyboard player Colosseum II's ex-keyboardist and Jon Lord's replacement in Deep Purple + session musician for Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Brian May of Queen, Judas Priest, Living Loud, Babe Ruth, Gary Moore, UFO, Michael Schenker, Colin Blunstone, Company Of Snakes, Electric Light Orchestra, Katrina & The Waves and Andrew Lloyd Webber . I think he would be a great inclusion in symphonic prog for his solo work (could be compared with Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman) or prog related.... Some samples:

That K2 album is most certainly a progressive rock album. I would even say Symphonic Prog.

terrific player, been on a ton of great records, but Light in the Sky was pretty far from progressive rock or even fusion..I was disappointed

Very underrated keyboardist... I saw him live with Deep Purple and he can play Lord's parts to perfection (and that is allot) + his new parts are not bad at all... his solo spot was truly amazing (Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman came to mind).... He is very versatile...I've heard him playing hard rock, heavy metal, fusion and symphonic...and all those genres flow naturally from his fingers... Since then I've been in love with his work (mainly with Colosseum II)

I saw Don Airey do a demo for Hammond at a music gear show a few years ago - if you passed him in the street you wouldn't recognise him, he was such a down to earth and friendly bloke who raved about Jimmy Smith and DP like a fan, one of rock's true Gents!
