Hey there. I was just wondering whether anybody had heard of the band "Threshold", because I'd run a search for it and there don't seem to be any discussions on the subject...
Being new to the forum, I'll admit that I probably didn't search in the right places (or something).

Some youtube previews...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg2U6A7bta0&feature=channel - Phenomenon

I enjoy the band's music very much, though the latest release kind of sucked. Anybody out there happen to know of them?

You do know that they are on PA right?http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=333. You´re just asking for opinions about the band?

Hi,

I guess they're well known amongst progrockers (or progmetal fans). I don't know why their latest release sucks - I consider it as their better effort in the context of their production. My favorite is Hypothetical and the debut, though.

There have been a few Threshold threads over the years, this being a more recent one: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=42169 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=42169

Of course Mac leaving and Damian rejoining created a flurry of threads for a while. Having seen Damian's power-house performance with them last year, I'm realy looking forward to a new release from them based on what I've heard of the new song (Smile At The Moon) posted on their myspace page.

I really think we should talk more of that great band!

A really great band IMO. Prog metal bands are a bit thin on the ground in the UK - not sure why that should be really.

I wasn't mad on their last album either; in fact the last few wouldn't get more than 3 stars from me. There's  a few strong tracks on each one but a few fillers too. Hypothetical, like may fans of the band is my favourite too. Maybe with Damian Wilson back in the band we may get a return to the older style which would be fine with me.

Hm, cool to see the talk about it. Thanks for the links, reckon I'm not utilising the Search function to it's best extent. Better check the newbies guide again Tongue

As for their releases, my favourites are their Debut, Hypothetical and Extinct Instinct (shoot me, but I found the bassline in Exposed to be real killer and that hooked me to the rest of the album).

The latest album I found to be an interesting release, but I found it to be very dry. Didn't have the lush-ness of the previous releases.

An excellent band, though I seem to be in the minority that thinks Clone is their best album. I quite liked Dead Reckoning, but I think Subsurface was a bit week and the production on Critical Mass was a bit weak.

Seen them live twice with Damiaen in the band (one of those was with Dean) and they are definitely one of the best live acts I've come across.

Yes they are quite good live just after viewing one of the best DVD, "Critical Energy". All members are just impressive to see live including Mac... I like every album.

Great band, my favorite however is Extinct Instinct. Sound great, playings great on the "Live" on the DVD, but as much as I like Fates Warning and Threshold , kinda boring bands to watch on stage, IMO.

I like Clone a lot too actually. One of the better albums I've come across, though occasionally I get a little tired of the constant harping on the genetics thing.

Macs not bad on there but his live act is a little wooden compared to Wilson.
