Of course, the cynic inside me wonders why people fall for all the hype spun by Sony, who, of course, released this and Cowell's crap. They were on to a winner whatever.

This whole campaign has been a "Rage Against Simon Cowell" - the trouble with us British is that we hate anyone that is doing well and we ridicule and run down our own success...
Simon's sugary X Factor world has been rocked this year, usurped from the Christmas No.1 by a campaign solely designed to wreck a harmless bit od Christmas fun, a "song" that very few of the downloaders would actually listen to again - it is not even a good song, just an even worse Rap/Punk dirge which should have remained in the gutter and totally unsuitable for this time of year, though ironically has only been redeemed by the charity money it has raised, therefore making it "acceptable",
Cowell's own vomit inducing plastic production line pop singers will be soon forgotten, another pop pap competition will receive record viewing figures and it will be "here we go again", the "winner" attacked by another antithesis of some description but just as bad - overall the victim of this cultural battle will be good music, but the winners, thank goodness, will be a yet unnamed charitable cause...

Rage's debut is a classic. It's not really good to call it rap rock, I think, because it has such a lowbrow connotation with nu-metal and all that. Rage preceded all that. To me, it's protest metal. De la Rocha's lyrics and delivery just seems more rock to me than rap. It's all just...different. Anyway, they're so completely better than Limp Bizkit or Korn or anything like that I shouldn't even feel the need to defend them. It's nice to see that there are plenty of people around who can't stand X-Factor music (and Joe Mcthingy's song is truly awful) but ultimately Sony have just made pots more money.
Overall it's worth to see that Simon Cowell may just begin to realise that not everyone has the same taste in music as him. I was quite disturbed to read that he once watched Later with Jools Holland and turned it off after 10 minutes (it didn't say who was on).

RATM are part of the machine because they are signed to Sony too, this is ridiculous. And in my opinion, swearing on a radio show after you've been asked not to is pretty damn unprofessional.
Oh lol, Elderry's single was a Miley Cyrus cover! I didn't even realize The Climb was a Miley Cyrus song, I had heard it at work but it was too bland for me to learn its name, but that's not even a good cover. NOBODY CAN FILL MILEY'S SHOES! ------------- if you own a sodastream i hate you |

Heck, at least the U.K. can get something like that going. If only to show the "mob" mentality of such offerings. I hope Susan Boyle does go on to a decent career. But I can do without the sycophantic media overkill of ephemera. Let us enjoy it for what (the song) it is. I don't need it everywhere. Too many great pop songs have come to be hated because of overplay.
