And here's the Funky Meters myspace: http://www.myspace.com/funkymeters - http://www.myspace.com/funkymeters

Good funk band, but I don't see it in PA.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Well, if it's added next ones to add :
- Booker t & the MG's
- Speedometer
- Lefties Soul Connection

But it's more instrumental funk than anything else.

I love The Meters, one of my favorite bands ever, but they aren't really fusion, real close sometimes, but not quite. At the height of fusion's popularity in the late 70s though, at their live shows, The Meters were leaning on a lead synth more than the B3 and sounded a lot like Weather Report.

Funk in itself was very innovative music in that it replaced the chord/melody structure with independent intersecting syncopated melodic lines, especially as introduced by James Brown when he switched from RnB/blues to a more modern abstract sound. You hear that idea of independent intersecting lines a lot in early prog bands, particularly Yes, King Crimson and Gentle Giant.
