I just noticed this. Somebody care to explain?

In 1976, VDGG released the album "World Record."

That same year, ELO released an album called "A New World Record."

Hmmmmm....

It was clearly a rare outbreak of "Simultaneous Punning". Nowadays we have injections to control it.

Yes, I care to explain

coincidence.

These two albums are miles away from each other in every way. Both good though.

Care to explain 'Up' by Peter Gabriel and Shania Twain in the same year?

hummm...its a conspiracy!!!!!!

Yep, the same thing:

Marillion.com   by Marillion &

J-Tull.com       by Jethro Tull

Both from 1999.

A dot-com conspiracy...

I understand that ELO's music and VDGG's music are extremely different, but still, it's interesting.

I think that ELO thought of calling their album World record, but to late they found that VDGG allready had an album soon coming out with that name and they changed it to A new world record instead. My guess only

It also transpires that George Orwell wrote a book of the same name!!!!  These folk are clearly all part of the same illuminati machinary. Where's Mulder & Scully??

Actually BTO did that on purpose in answer to what those timberjacks brutes considered Yes as flimsy music. So fans answered by refferring to  BTO as Bachman Turner Overweight (which they were solidly).

There was an Olympic Games that year. Perhaps members of both bands got caught-up in all the excitement.

Ah! That explains it... I couldn't understand why the 'Britsh Trust for Ornithology' had released an album, unless it was full of tweety noises!

I remember in the UK in December 1986, we had three songs in the top 10 which were all called 'The Power Of Love'... by Jennifer Rush, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Hewie Lewis & The News, 2 of which got to number 1.

The only thing the three songs had in common I seem to remember was that they were all crap...

In 1973 ELP released an album Brain Salad Surgery....however no other prog rock band released an album of the same title.....surely a conspiracy against ELP.

Yes! Both bands were amazed by Nadia Comaneci`s qualifications of "10" in the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games. She was the first to have those qualifications in her sport! So, she was the real inspiration of the titles of those albums.

More coincidences:

The band Badfinger released in 1974 an album called "Wish You Were Here". The next year, Pink Floyd released their "Wish You Were Here" album. Unfortunately for Badfinger, their album was in the shops for few weeks as they had legal problems with the label (Warner), so the album was retired.

In late 1969 The Rolling Stones released an album called "Let It Bleed", and in 1970 The Beatles released an album called "Let It Be".

In the late 80s there was a female singer called Toni Childs who released an album called "Union". Years later, YES also released an album called "Union".

Vangelis released an album called "Heaven and Hell". Black Sabbath also released an album called "Heaven and Hell".

There are several songs titled "Hold On": one composed by by Steve Winwood (with Jim Capaldi for Winwood`s 1977 solo album), one composed by YES, one composed by John Lennon ("Hold on, John"), one composed by Kerry Livgren and recorded by Kansas, and one composed by Jon Anderson (this last one titled "Hold On to Love"). In the "Union" album, Anderson also composed a song called "Holding On". Genesis also has a song called "Hold on my heart". In his 1989 solo album, Trevor Rabin has a song called "Something to Hold on To". Ringo Starr`s "Ringo" album had in the first pressings a song titled "Hold On" (composed by Randy Newman), but the  title of this song was corrected in later pressings ("Have you seen my baby", the correct title).I have the LP of this album with the song titled as "Hold On", but I also have the CD with the correct title of the song. Jeff Lynne composed a song called "Hold on Tight" for ELO`s "Time" album.

Paul McCartney composed two different songs called "Hold Me Tight":one was recorded by The Beatles in 1963, and the other was recorded by Wings in 1973.

Both Lennon and McCartney composed songs called "Woman":Lennon one for his "Double Fantasy" album in 1980, and McCartney another song which was recorded by a duo called Peter and Gordon in the mid 60s.

YES and Genesis have a part of a song called "Apocalypse": YES in the "And You and I" song, and Genesis in the "Supper`s Ready" song. Both were released in 1972.

I have another one.......

Spock's Beard recorded V in 2000....

Symphony X recorded V in 2000...

not only that, but both album covers featured a desert scene with golden sand and red skies!

and to finish it off....... both albums were put out by Metal Blade.

Conspiracy or coincidence? ........... you be the judge!

Another one: a song called "Money" has been recorded by

  • The Beatles (1963)
  • Pink Floyd (1973)
  • Yes (1978)
  • Jon & Vangelis (1991)

Then we have:

  • Easy Money (King Crimson)
  • Danger Money (UK - same vocalist and drummer of the one above!)
  • Money Talks (Alan Parsons Project)
  • Money for Nothing (Dire Straits)

Yes! Drummer/singer Buddy Miles (who played with Jimi Hendrix in the "Band of Gypsys" album) also composed a song called "Changes".

Tears for Fears has a song called "Change"

....etc....

Liza Minelli also sings a song in the "Cabaret" (1972) movie which says: "...money makes the world go `round...money...money...money..." (I don`t know the correct title of the song).

And did anyone notice that many rock bands have the word "rock" in their song title?

Twisted Sister - I Wanna Rock
Kiss - Rock And Roll All Nite
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock
Rolling Stones - It's Only Rock And Roll But I Like It
Van Halen - The Cradle Will Rock
...
etc.

And yet another conspiracy!
