This Swiss band, a project of drummer Daniel Spahni, seems to be a relatively clear fit for RIO/Avant.  So far, they've released 3 albums: A Ban in 1992, Contredanses in 2003 and Procès Verbal in 2007.  A few samples are available on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/larsenrupinmusic - http://www.myspace.com/larsenrupinmusic and it seems as if all three of the Larsen Rupin albums (along with Spahni's other various projects) can be streamed on his website: http://www.spahni.biz/ - http://www.spahni.biz/

Enjoy! Big smile

Pretty interesting, I didn't like the first two samples on their myspace very much, but I haven't listened to all of them yet. I think I will end up liking this band.

Looks interesting, good work Jon. I'll transmit it to the ZART thread.
I, myself, will listen to it tomorrow; it's late here and I don't want to wake up someone.

I get the feeling the song Contredanse would be more up your alley.

Erreur Systeme is my favorite from their Myspace page.

Awesome, thanks Gabe.  I'm noticing that Contredanse (the song, at least) has some Art Zoyd in it.

That was to Matt, though I feel like you'll like it (and the rest of their stuff hopefully Tongue)

Now I'm getting more interested. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, they sample Art Zoyd in that.  Perhaps not very original in using samples, but I like the end result.

Just listened to it, I think it's a "Yes".
At least it depended on the songs. Some were pretty similar to ÉFL Poumons-era, others like Contredanses were definitely a good fit for here. Some were good, but somewhat repetitive. But I think it's a "Yes". I'll let you know Smile
What about their other stuff? I see you listened to it.

I've been listening to some albums on his website today, from what I've heard this band is a yes (IMO) and his other bands are a clear no. LOL

But not necessarily bad either.

Exactly, I like the other groups but they're clearly not PA material.

Glad you like it.  As I said earlier, I was surprised when I noticed the sampling of Art Zoyd in the title track of that one.  It worked well, though.
