Evenin' folks.

From their official site:

Quote The brand new Kayo Dot album, Coyote, will be released on April 20th. You can pre-order it from us here and now! Included with all pre-orders will be a CD-r of a recent Kayo Dot live set from our Fall 2009 European tour! Each CD-r will be uniquely labeled by the band and will come in hand-made packaging. This CD-r will only ever be available through this pre-order! This offer will close on Friday, April 9, and all pre-orders will ship on Friday, April 16!

This comes at no extra cost to the standard order (15USD inc. postage within the US, and 18USD inc. postage outside of the US.) and is a pretty good deal.

HydraHead is also offering their own special edition pre-order:

Quote Pre-order a Kayo Dot CD, and you'll get a FREE Kayo Dot sticker and pin set (pin set NOT AVAILABLE with media mail shipping). Get one sticker and one pin set per order. The pin set includes Three 1" pins and won't be available after this pre-order ends. The sticker measures 3" x 3" and is also limited edition, and will be available after the pre-order on a while supplies last basis. Click "more pics" above for a closer look at the pin set and sticker.

I've gone with the first one; as much as I'd love the sticker, I can't pass up a live album.

Just ordered mine from the Kayo Dot site along with the CD-R.  Much better deal than the pins.

Excited!

I also chose the live album instead of the stickers... Smile

Can you believe Coyote comes out in seven days, and it hasn't leaked yet!?

They've probably made the smart decision of not sending out any promo's since thats were the leaks come from.

I couldn't pre-order it. Sucks big time. Will get my hands on the album sooner or later, though.

Well, I got my order in the mail today.  Road trip tomorrow is all MotW and the new Kayo Dot album.

With the order I received a live album of Kayo Dot in Bonn, 2009 (#018).  It also has a live version of a new song from the upcoming Tartar Lamb album.

Very happy!

On first listen it is very good. Thumbs Up

ALSO, if you're too lazy to get the preorder or simply short on cash, it's available on amazon mp3 for only $4.95. Shocked

New album rules.  There is a sort of zeuhl aesthetic that did not exist on previous albums.  Can't wait to see them again in concert.

On the one hand, it's really cheap on Amazon MP3. On the other hand, I feel kind of bad because I only own their albums digitally. Is the packaging nice?

You'll want it.  Great triple gate fold.

If you missed getting the live album - well, sucks to be you.  I really enjoy it.

I read that it's along the lines of Blue Lambency...is this true? I like Maudlin quite a bit and dislike BL...should I bother?

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I thought the new album was okay, but that's only one listen in.

It tends to be rather quiet in large places...it kind of gave me a Univers Zero vibe for some reason.

There's never been much comparison between motW and KD, but Coyote is much more darker and generally more agressive than BLD, and Robs assertion that its similar in feel to UZ is right on the money, its the impression that I was getting as well.

There was a link around here somewhere to Whisper Ineffable. Give WI a try and if you like it, buy Coyote, if not dont bother.

Yeah, I missed the CDR, and meh, I don't care much about live albums except for free improvisation (which are not really a live album in the traditional sense of the term). I'm sure the live version had some differences, but I have too much of a one track mind to really enjoy hearing the differences and picking one over the other.
