Hope it does well. The one that was released for the victims of hurricane Katrina is one of the best "various artsists" cds i own.Mostly new or unreleased tracks.Well worth checking out as the money is still going to New orleans, and they still need help.

Will get this despite that the K in Projekt made me think King Crimson was somehow involved.

Great idea and a great cause

i wonder, a few years ago a similar project, The Tsunami Projekt, made over $15,000 for the tsunami victims. Why has this one only barely squeaked past $2,000? Is it really because people are not ready for a digital-only format? What do you guys think, if it was a CD with 15 songs vs. a download with 40 songs, would it have been better?

Personally, I would have been surprised that the format would have an affect on sales since it's a charity...but, of course, we want to do what is best for the cause - what can you guys suggest to improve the response?

Based on the experience I had with my first album, format may very well have something to do with it.  I can't tell you how many folks said to me, "Pass for now because I don't really do downloading, but let me know if and when there's a CD made."

At least I'm not one of them, I bought your album! (and enjoyed it very much, btw).

Wow, I guess it really is an issue - I wonder if that's because a lot of prog fans might be a slightly older crowd in general? Or do people still have more of a sense of value when getting a physical CD, even the younger iPod crowd?

And Whispers and Screams is excellent.  Thumbs Up (Now I have to hear it again!  Too bad I have a phone conference in two minutes Cry).

As for your question, I think it's a combination of both.  Between CDs and mp3s, I prefer CDs myself (a nice booklet does add value), but that doesn't stop me from downloading either.  And some folks have told me that they don't feel comfortable downloading things.

I wonder what's happening with that physical release...

Anyway, time for an update:

Quote The Haiti Projekt reports the earnings through Aug 10...

Hello everyone. I wanted to let everyone know that I sent The Haiti Projekt money to the American Red Cross today. The totals are as follows and are current through this moment (Aug 10, 2010):

134 copies sold
$2,680.00 gross intake
$130.72 in PayPal fees
$2,549.28 net intake

I wrote the Red Cross a $2,600.00 check. Once I have a confirmation for the donation, I'll post a scan (for The Tsunami Projekt, they sent us a nice letter of thanks...).

Thanks to those who bought a copy. For those of you who have not, it is still available at http://www.thehaitiprojekt.com

Brian
