SRC is an American psychedelic/proto-prog band. They were active in the late 60' and early 70'. They recorded 3 albums which varied in style. First album is typical garage-psych similar to "Man" debut or Pink Floyd 1st album. Short songs and trippy orgas all over the place. Their next 2 albums (especially final, 3rd album) has longer songs and better arrangements dominated by guitar and Hammond organ.

line-up:

Gary Quackenbush (guitar, 1968-69), Glenn Quackenbush (keyboards, vocals, 1968-70), E. G. Clawson (drums, 1968-70), Scott Richardson (vocals, 1968-70), Steve Lymann (guitar, 1968-69), Robin Dale (bass, 1968), Alan Wilmot (bass, 1969-70), Ray Goodman (guitar, 1970)

I have heard the short samples and here's my initial thoughts.

"Traveller's Tale" album (first link): (Proto?) Heavy Prog with fine organ and guitar work.

"SRC" album (second link): UK psyche / heavy prog again with fine organ. I recommend further investigation of this.

Definitely deserves a  serious consideration. Personally I cannot conclude from short samples.

SRC i think that is more a full psychedelic band than a prog or proto prog band.

Ok i listen to this monster and i want to tell you that they haven't prog credential in any manner, i have a really difficult time to listen because they paly the kind type of psychedelia that i don't like at all.

For me is in the likes of the music machine, opne mind and bands that have rare records but they are extreme overrated for it's rarity instead of his music.

Not in PA in any way, unless we open the addition of bands like play mild heavy psych with 60's psychedelia feel and trying to emulate the Herd.

Yeah but I guess there may be only a solution left that they be approved as a Prog-Related outfit. Smile

You're right, they're definitely more psych than prog, but most progheads would love SRC, because this is intelligent psych >> not two minutes stuff ala See Emily Play

I'd favour their addition to proto-prog.
