Storm At Sunrise was an American band created by Dave Gryder, keyboardist/organist previously from symphonic prog band Covenant (already on PA). Storm At Sunrise was a quite short-lived outfit which played rather straightforward Heavy prog in the vain of Deep Purple Mark II or Atomic Rooster. Vocals (also Dave Gryder) are quite horrible to be honest but extended Hammond organ/guitar soloing in all (!!) of their songs is really splendid. Some of their songs include also Mellotron & (Moog?) synthesizer.

This band is largely considered in Internet as both Heavy prog rock (mainly) and Stoner Rock.

Take note that Dave Gryder plays Hammond organ, drums and sing! That's why they didn't play concerts

Dave Gryder - keyboards (Hammond B3 organ, mellotron, electric piano, clavinet, Moog synthesizer), drums, vocals

Ernie Myers - guitars
John Chesterfield - bass (on "Garden Of Forgotten Ideals" album)

Kiley "Barney" Wolf - bass (on "The Suffering" album)

After disbanded Dave Gryder played (and continue to play) in band "Blood of The Sun".

Surely classic rock influences are the most evident in this band. However there are also lots of good prog rock moments, including Moog and mellotron (flute sounds) parts.

I've send more music samples of this band (by PM to The Whistler from Heavy Prog team). I hope it will help them to be included in PA (as Heavy Prog or prog related).

(these 2 free samples I gave previously on the top of this topic don't show the most prog influenced part of this band)

I've already prepared biography of this band. Hope it will be included.

In fact it sounds more like biography of their two main members...but believe me, it's not easy to find anything about Storm at Sunrise in Internet at all:

"Storm at Sunrise is a very unusual progressive/hard rock band from Texas. It was founded by Dave Gryder, musician who previously played drums and sang in heavy metal bands "Morning Thunder" (with future "The Underground Railroad" guitarist Bill Pohl), "Heaven's Force" and "Rotting Corpse". After leaving Rotting Corpse, he started solo career as symphonic progressive rock keyboardist under moniker "Covenant" (he released one album in 1992 called "Nature's Devine Reflection"). Near the end of XX century Gryder created band Storm at Sunrise together with guitarist Ernie Myers (previously in symphonic prog band "Hands") & bassist John Chesterfield. Gryder took over keyboards, drums and vocal duties, and because of obvious impossibility to manage all of these functions at once, "Storm at Sunrise" never played concerts and became only "studio act".

Trio recorded 2 albums with similar quality content: "Garden Of Forgotten Ideals" (1999) & "The Suffering" (2001)(in the second album John Chesterfield was replaced by Kiley "Barney" Wolf). Their music is untypical mix of hard rock organ and guitar riffing, stoner metal alike vocals and art rock solos played on truly progressive rock analog gear including Hammond B3, mellotron, Moog synthesizer, electric piano & clavinet. Most of the material for albums was composed by the band, however they also recorded one cover song - "I Just Want to Celebrate" - originally performed by '70 psych-soul band Rare Earth.

After Storm at Sunrise disbanded Ernie Myers came back to his original group - "Hands". He also became a main guitarist in band called "Fission Trip", along with past King Crimson members: Ian Wallace, Mel Collins & Adrian Belew.

Dave Gryder joined (in 2004) as organist '70 inspired, hard rock/southern rock band "Blood of The Sun", and he added many ambitious/prog elements there. He is also a leader of guitar-bass-drums power trio cover-band "Mad Jack McMaddd"(again with his long time friend - guitarist Bill Pohl). Occasionally he also plays drums in prog-rock band called "The Underground Railroad".

John Chesterfield & Kiley "Barney" Wolf's career paths remain unknown."

P.S. I've really dig deep to find these info. But thanks to this I found out that their guitarist is even more prog-oriented musician then organ/drums player. I've never heard that he played in bands called "Hands" (symphonic prog, already on PA) and "Fission Trip"(together with KC members, and still not on PA!). I'll have to check them out too some day.
