Hi everyone. I'd like to suggest Kostas Tournas for Folk Prog or Psychedelic Prog.

Here's his first solo album Aperanta Horafia (Endless fileds) and it's really worth checking. It's a theme album from 1973. Later on he changed style to more poppish.

Excellent suggestion, sounds like early progressive with classical, pop, folk and psychedelic influences. I'll ask the Eclectic team to have a look first.

I forwarded Kostas Tournas to prog related last year - no reply ...

I could have sworn the Prog Folk team reviewed Kostas Tournas a while back - I even have some samples someone sent me, but in checking our lists it doesn't look like we did.

Anyway, IMHO this is a better fit for Psych (or possibly Eclectic), but if you want the Prog Folk team to offer an opinion I can add them to our review list.

Yes, I submitted it. It's been a year and no reply.
The same happened with Kaleidoscope (Mex and US).

ClemofNazareth I believe he should be under Psych. I don't mind Folk either. As for Eclectic I hadn't thought of it. Maybe we should hear more opinions.

If you ask me, I definetely say Psych!

Good suggestion!  The first album is very definitely a Prog album.  I think it should be considered by the Eclectic team, too, though I agree that psychedelic infuences are very strong.  It's a shame that in later years he moved away from Prog and became more mainstream.  Also his second album, Lefka Ftera is worth checking out, though pop influences are becoming more aparent.  The sad thing is that few Greeks are even aware of these two early albums.

I thought I'd like this from the description.  It's quite in line with various albums I've been into over the last year (been really into such music).  Good music.  It's reminiscent to me of Nowy's Lucifer's Dream in part, also from '73 (that Rivertree gave a two to Cry).

Haven't listened to enough yet to share a sufficiently informed opinion

Well, actually Lefka Ftera is his fifth album. This is his early discography.

With pop band The Poll:
* 1971 - Anthrope (Human) @ interesting greek hippie-pop music ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD5xpJQX350 )
* 1972 - Poll @ not as good as their first lp

Solo:
* 1973 - Aperanta Horafia (Endless fileds) @ masterpiece
* 1973 - Astroneira (Star-deams) @ change to more poppish style but still with some prog moments, 3-4 good songs
* 1974 - Kyries kai kyrioi (Ladies and gentleman) @ ever more poppish, 2-3 good songs
* 1974 - Epi gis eirini (Peace on earth) @ pop
* 1975 - Lefka ftera (White wings) @ pop
* 1976 - Sto cinema (At the cinema) @ some interesting prog moments, 2 good songs
* 1979 - Agapimeni (Beloved) @ pop

I'd be very grateful if you tell me some of them.

Sorry, my mistake, you're right!   Actually, I only have these two albums, and I was unaware of the albums between.  I just found a link here which might be of interest to you

Time to revive an old thread by posting a link to the whole album 'Aperanta Chorafia' on YouTube.  Definitely worth a listen even if he's not accepted into the archives!!

Rejected by Psych/Space and Prog Folk as too mainstream; perhaps Prog Related at best (very little chance there then). Checked by Eclectic but not on their current eval list so presumably rejected there as well. Looking at Okocha's post above this seems like a one-prog-album-in-pop-career artist.

Anyway, here's cacha's link:

^^ Obviously a lot of his 70's stuff are pop music but there are albums that are either prog or prog-influenced

Would be worth if those with more knowledge of his discography post some further samples that help the case for Prog-related
