The design group in Britain that had been formed in 1968 did the work of various musicians' Cover Art. Of course, a lot of they worked concerning Prog Rock.

The impressive part. Part where creativity is stirred up. In an avant-garde part, there might be individuality.

I like to see the work of Cover Art that Hipgnosis did.

My personal favorite is "Stranger In The Night".

My favorite cover is Argus; my favorite album is probably The Lamb, which I'll choose over Going For the One based on quantity.

Wish You Were Here. Not as subtle as it probably should be, but too brilliant for me to care. Too bad the actual album doesn't live up to it.

That is a pretty funny cover.  The work they did for the Lamb was outstanding and gets my vote.  No doubt those guys did some of the best album artwork.  Does anyone know if they're still at it?  I also find it amusing that they really did set the guy on fire for Wish You Were Here.

I voted Argus.  Classy cover.

Generally i'm not a fan of Hipgnosis.  I find many of their covers disjointed with rather brutal symbolism.

I notice that so far three posts have stated a preference for Argus but it has only two votes.

I voted Argus, but it's Voice that would get my vote in the full poll.

Presence is one of my favorite covers ever. Perhaps #1.

I do also enjoy The Lamb, however.

Storm Thorgerson is still cranking them out, as far as I know.  Don't know about Aubrey Powell.

Storm, with and without Hipgnosis, is one of the all-time great album cover artists.

/voted WYWH

I hadn't realised that Hipgnosis did the Quatermass cover.  This is one of the classic covers and raises them considerably in my estimation.

Wish You Were Here is an iconic artwork in the history, no question.

Quatermass is not a great cover simply because it doesn't work in a square format of a single album or CD inlay.

It only works as a gatefold, and for that it is magnificent:

^ I love the Quartermass cover design; brilliant.

Out of these choices, I'll go with The Lamb... but my favorite Hipgnosis design is probably De-loused in the Comatorium (TMV).
