Picked up both CDs through local library. I have liked My life since it came out. I liked the sampling that went with the songs on the first side. I am liking the latter as well.. It is quite different. From what I have read they recorded the album separately(at their homes) and then had it mixed in NY.

My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is a genre-defining masterpiece.

Everything That Happens Will Happen Today is middle-aged adult contemporary garbage.

I have Life in the Bush but haven't found it interesting enough to listen more than a couple minutes into it

I think it's a bit harsh to call Everything garbage.  It just doesn't look so good compared to the Bush.  Interesting thing about Bush Of Ghosts - the original album had a song called Qu'ran which was omitted from the expanded version.

This thread needs some cover art Big smile

By the way, if you enjoyed their latest you might find this one interesting, too:

My Life ... is extremely great album mixing African rhythms and Eno ambient ideas. Masterpiece!

As the story goes they removed that piece in 1982. In the 1982 second edition, the track "Qu'ran"—which features samples of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quran - Qur'anic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qiraat - recital —was removed at the request of the http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Islamic_Council_of_Great_Britain&action=edit&redlink=1 - Islamic Council of Great Britain .
I wonder if there was any threats related to this and how much is the original 1981 version worth?

^^ Looks like the LP with Qu'ran is up for bid at $88 on ebay.  I have the LP.  It is a remarkable listen.  Help Me Somebody!

I've got the first CD release which matches the content of the vinyl version.  My original vinyl succumbed to the flood and the salvaged copy is with my boss.

I haven't listened to ETHWHT much besides "Strange Overtones."

Still, I was never too keen on The Bush of Ghosts. I kind of felt Eno did better by himself and Byrne did better with Talking Heads.

Bush of Ghosts!

Great - and rather strange album. I still delight in playing 'Regiment' to people. They want to hate it, but just can't.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
