One of my favorite bands right now.  Jam/Classic Rock/Prog featuring a certain Reine Fiske whom you may recognize from Landberk, Morte Macabre, Paatos... This guy's guitar playing will pretty much melt your face.

Amazing band, I hope to see them sometime soon!

Too bad the current European tour means only Ireland, UK and Scandinavian countries... But I agree that an extensive tour of the US is much more important.

For anyone who doesn't already know this great band, here is my favourite album of theirs in full:

Oh... and the website foretells of a new album dropping in September.  I've found with this band each album has a few songs I really really get into and a few I don't like all that much (usually the folkier numbers with a lot of vocals).  It's always interesting to hear what the different creative forces will bring to bear though.

I could be totally wrong but I get the sense that front man Gustav Ejstes and Reine Fiske don't always see eye to eye on the songwriting.  So far I think it's been beneficial.  Plus with each album there is at least one track where Fiske just comes unglued (or is allowed to) and goes into full on Swedish-Hendrix mode.  Yeah it's a bit indulgent but I do love it so...

I think that is what drew me in to the group... it isn't simply Hendrixian.. lord knows there there enough of those out there.  Those contrasting creative forces make for some incredibly tasty music.  For every guitar freak out you  get a sublime folkier piece, a Floydian space ride, or a well crafted 'song'.  One thing I have always looked for in music is what Jimmy Page called the 'light and shade'... heavy and light. It was the ingredient that made Zeppelin.. well.. Zeppelin.. and for me is a benchmark in determined great music.  Anyhow.. thanks for the info, taking two days vacation to catch Dungen in Baltimore hahah, and will have the new album in my hands as soon as is humanly possible when it is released haha.  Dungen has been my favorite 'new' discovery in the last couple of years. Found a copy of their latest in a 2nd hand store in DC a couple of years ago and worked backwards and got all their albums.

Well put.  "Krona" from the first album is a great example of that light side of things.

BTW, this wasn't very well publicized but you can get a copy of their performance from Bonnaroo '06 here:

I got a pretty sweet binaural recording of their show near Joshua Tree in September.  Standing about 6 ft from the stage in a pretty small venue.  Just not sure where to put it yet.  Anyone still do the Usenet thing???
