Of Brian Eno's classic albums, which is your favorite?

My vote goes to Another Green World, which happens to be my favorite album ever.

Nothing in his catalouge can compare with his first....babys on fire alone makes the rest obsolete.

I like Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) and Another Green World almost as much though.

I absolutely love all the '70's stuff, but my favorite is probably Before And After Science.  The diversity of music and the lyrical humor and the guest musicians on that one are simply awesome.  In fact, I think I'm going to give it a listen now.  It's been a while. Big smile

The only real disappointments I have are Nerve Net and The Drop.  They just leave me cold.

When it comes to the ambients The Plateaux Of Mirror is my favorite.  By the way, fans of Music For Airports should check out Bang On A Can's cover version of the entire thing. Big smile

Another Green World has always garnered the most votes here, but my fave will always be the wacky, weird and wonderful Taking Tiger Mountain Thumbs Up (with Here Come the Warm Jets second).

Of Eno's first four, AGW comes in third, for me -- a great album, but it lacks the quirky humour of the first two, and it doesn't rock nearly as hard. By then, Eno's movement towards ambience, and away from lyrics, is really starting to manifest. I LOVE early Eno lyrics! Smile

I listen to his Ambient 1-4 albums very frequently, definitely 4 and 1 the most.  I'd have to say Ambient 4/On Land is my favorite.  I also have a live Fripp and Eno bootleg that is phenomenal(as well as Fripp and Eno studio), but I don't think that applies here.

Overall AGW, but BAAS is basically of equal quality.

Given that I rated 5 stars to Another Green World, I'd best vote for that one.  Those first four are all pretty remarkable, each in its own way.  He's one of the overlooked masters of the Minimoog.

All four of Eno's classic vocal albums are five star records in my opinion, but my favorite is Before and After Science. The composition and production on that album are just perfect. Spider and I is the most gorgeous song ever.

The first 3 were amazing as well as his work on Manzanera's debut Diamond Head (Eno's vocal on Miss Shapiro ? WOW!).  Taking Tiger Mountain gets my vote

All of his four pop albums, but Another Green World holds a special place in my heart. It was the first of his albums I heard and was the one to convince me to look further into his output.

Also, the idea of the album just appeals to me. It reminds me of that one time I visited the Bahamas and it conjures up images of the clear ocean, beaches, tress and lizards. 14 little sonic odes of an island somewhere in the tropics. In all honesty, this is Eno's Pet Sounds / Sgt. Pepper / Forever Changes, etc.

Hate to be obvious, but nothing beats Another Green WorldHeart

I remember getting Before & After Science and then feeling completely under-whelmed by it. And it even had Jaki on it!

Aye!  However, Another Green World is mind-blowing, and I love Before & After Science as well!  I play much of this material on bass, and someday will have Fripp's solo on Baby's On Fire down as well!

Warm Jets for me, though each of those 1st 4 has amazing stuff.  Taking Tiger Mountain is best if I'm in the mood for twisted "songs"...Another Green World if I want to Fripp out (his solo on St Elmo's Fire knocks me out)...and I could listen to "Kings Lead Hat" all day LOL

I had to go with..Bush Of Ghosts. That collaboration with David Byrne, well a masterpiece. I remember Rick Wright stating in an article that this album plus Remain In Light were definitely in his top ten of all time.

Almost makes ya wish that Eno had become an integral member of King Crimson!  "Kings Lead Hat" is a riot to play on guitar!

Dammit ... . Haven't heard anything with Hassell on it. And I'm not sure if Ambient #2: The Plateaux of Mirror could be called classic. If not, then I'd vote for Another Green World, but so far no vote.

Wow I can't believe this thread has been dormant for a few years and I never voted when it was fresh. LOL  So I went with Before And After Science.

Love the 801 live album mentioned by the thread resurrector.  I first heard that one on 8 Track.  The remastered and expanded CD version is a must have.

I always think of Kings Lead Hat as a prog version of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Free Bird guitar jam LOL

Another Green / The Warm Jets, are equaly important to me, they are amongst those few albums of an allmost devine nature
(allmost !! ..so no panic anyone in to devine as something very important Wink ).

Bush of Ghosts, (and No Pussy) very important, but in those cases, It more the technical aproach, not so much the
musical contence. (but great music too.)

Gave my vote to Jets - dono why.

This is how I voted on this poll three years ago.  Strange, because I was about to vote for either Warm Jets or Green World.  All those early ones are fantastic.

'Cause it's the most fun, most bizarre (arguably), and most rocking record Eno has ever made.
