this is a band from Bergen, Norway, they play so called vaudeville influenced rock, influences from what I hear are Procol Harum, Tom Waits, Cat Stevens, Genesis, litle Gentle Giant, and Jethro Tull (folk infuence in general)

It is short songs but they are realy creative and show clear prog-leaning, more prog then Mew in terms of sound and chord-changes, instrumentation and lead instrument passages

they have two albums

Major Parkinson (I dont have this) 2008
Songs from a Solitary Home (I have this one) 2010

I saw them live totay and was blown away by their energy and progressive instrumentation and odd-time sigs,

and they use Mellotron like it was ther own invention Clap  (brings memories back to Tony Banks gentle touches without sounding plagiaritativ

Forum teams that I think would listen to this are

Heavy Prog, Eclectic Prog, Crossover Prog, and then to a lesser extent Prog Folk, Symphonic Prog, and Prog-Related as a final resting spot

I will also say that don't take this band lightly in your analyses, it is important to listen to their albums from Start to finish,

they are a TRUE MODERN PROG BAND with modern prog aproach but with links to the prog-legends

^ cool, have not listened to that, but I listen to their latest

clear Procol Harum and Tom Waits sounding with a cabaree feel, but also a folk and themeatic attitude through the album, (the keybordist show clear Tony Banks fanboyisme,

that they have short songs dose not mean thay aint prog, Gentle Giant had short songs, and this band resemblance GG in that aspect that they keap it progressive for 2-4 minuttes with enough elements to make it stand out

it is important to listen closely, their is alot of nuances, from piano mini solos, bass lines, guitar strumming and small lead-parts, complex riffs and rythems they also have a modern aproach so they are a tad more upbeat then the 70s prog bands, but they are as charming as Gentle Giant and gruff as Tom Waits

We are evaluating it in Eclectic.  Please be patient as we have a backlog. I'd like to see it in Eclectic or Crossover, but it's one, I thought, that needs careful listening.  Will let you know how it goes. Thanks.

Oh I don't ment to be rude or hasty

but I saw just a tonn of new bands that were suggested On New Bands or Artist suggestion, and this was falling down onto second page. I allways fear that when thay are not on the first page they often are forgotten and sinks futher away into the jungle of bandsuggestions.

Teams have threads where they discuss suggestions.  It was mentioned to us (Eclectic) by David (Atavachron) and is on our to-do list. Course it may be passed on by us to Crossover, in which case they'll then have to evaluate it.  It may take some time, but it won't be forgotten even if it falls many pages down until a final decision is reached.  Anyway, I like this one, and hopefully PA members will check it out and enjoy it. The most important thing is that all of the suggestions do get acknowledged and get their chance for evaluation.

No ice cream, but if it's accepted and you prepare the addition (bio etc,), then I could add it for you will giving you lasting credit for the addition, which may result in a certain amount of adulation from Prog people down the road on a job well done.

We've cleared it for Eclectic.  If you would like to prepare the addition (bio/ band pic) then I could add it for you with full credit, and then you could add the albums yourself.

Major Parkinson is a rock group from Bergen, lokaly from parts of their county (Hordaland)  like Odda and Hardanger.

the fun started in 2003
they started playng at small venues, but build a strong fundament with a growing local following, soon they started to play a larger venes and festivals like the lokal Begen festival called Eggstokk festival.

their first producer Sylvia Massy (who produced their debute s/t album) have worked with no less the Tool, Johnny Cash and lokal Norwegian bands like Siegmen and Animal Alpha.

Album was released in 2008 and got great and positive reviews in national media newspapers, which futher led to som natinal and international tourdates, culminating in the Hove-Festival where they shared stage with Faith No More and Disturbed.

Their music i rock with a strong pop sensabilaty, with elements from Melodic classic pop, hardcore rock elements, and progressive rock

their last Album was released in 2010 and have the title Songs From a Solitary Home

their infuences (as far as I can hear) is Tom Waits, Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, Kansas, System of a Down, Kaizers Orchestra (whom probably shoul be in PA as well Confused)

second album

how to futher describe them (they have also extremply energic live shows), also a indication of the rumours that the ScandioNodic prog era is real
