Simple enough - which of these awesome albums do you prefer?  I think both are pretty excellent stuff, but I still like Bitches Brew more.

It would have been more interesting to include more Miles' fusions.  Oddly enough, BB was the first one I got (box set version - the complete sessions) and BF is the latest.  A lot of titles sandwiched in between.

The box set version I have is really neat.  The outer slipcover is silk or at least silky.  Metallic aluminum (I think) blue spine is part of this huge booklet that also holds the discs.

I apologize if I made any of you fans of the album that don't have this version drool.

I picked the greatest Jazz album of all time. But both are great!

You picked Kind Of Blue? Didn't know that was on this poll. Wink

Although Big Fun is still good and comes much from the BB sessions, it's easy to see that the better tracks went into the BB and they waited almost three years to release BF

Big Fun is a collection of outtakes from sessions a year or more apart, but it contains three of Miles' greatest fusion contributions:  Great Expectations, Lonely Fire and Go Ahead John.  These three cuts should be absorbed only after getting to know In a Silent Way, Jack Johnson and Bitches Brew (not to mention Live-Evil and the Fillmore recordings).....those three cuts, among others, were cut and spliced to form portions of those classics.....Go Ahead John contains that smoking lead to Right Off that starts the Jack Johnson album....absolutely scorching!

Miles' electric period is all a bunch of things taken from various sessions - really confusing even for old fans.

I'm surprised that i missed this poll before: Big Fun for sure. That and Get Up With It are particular faves of mine.  Bitches Brew is great too, but didn't connect as much with me.

I absolutely adore both, but I think I enjoy Big Fun more because Bitches Brew tends to become occasionally too avant.

I seemed to have missed this poll. I went with Big Fun, I've always liked that one, as opposed to BB which grew on me over time.

Same.

I actually loved Big Fun from first spin, but have come to really enjoy Bitches Brew.  That said, I still prefer Big Fun and Get Up With It to Bitches Brew.

I know that this an old poll, but been revived twice, but I am quite surprised to see the total number of votes.  I wouldn't have thought Big Fun well-enough known to the PA crowd for this many forum users to have a preference.

Checks database:

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=19263" rel="nofollow"> 4.24 | 239 ratings http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=19263" rel="nofollow - Bitches Brew
1970

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=19268" rel="nofollow"> 4.31 | 39 ratings http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=19268" rel="nofollow - Big Fun
1974

14 more people have taken the time to vote in this poll than all of the Big Fun ratings, which is not to say that knowing both one should not choose Bitches Brew as clearly posters in this poll have chosen BB who do know both (and BB is a hugely important/ influential album to electric jazz), but I do wonder if a fair amount of voters voted without having both albums.

I love both but went with Large Amusement.
I recently bought a vinyl version and it was a real treat revisiting the album.
I am also a huge sucker for psychedelic music, and this album just blows me away with it's saucy usage of Indian instrumentation.

I don't really like either as a whole, but Ill go with Big Fun if for no other reason because of Great Expectations.

Both are great but Bitches Brew got the ball rolling and had more exposure.

My favourite connection to Bitches Brew was the first time my now ex-mother-in law spent an afternoon with my my now ex-wife and she played BB for her. Apparently she wasn't impressed and told my now ex-wife that she didn't think this was 'normal' music and that she didn't think our marriage would last. Happily she was right on both counts!  :)

BB is the album that got me into jazz fusion, so that gets my vote.
