Hi All,
This post is about my recording project Look To Windward which I have been working on since the start of last year with a friend of mine. Prog Archives seems the perfect place to look for some feedback seeing how many of my favourite artists I have discovered on here.

We are from Auckland, New Zealand and this project is purely studio based. We are finishing up a full length album called Fortunes Haze and have put 3 songs online as a sort of EP for free download.

Our influences may be evident in the music but we have strived for something different all the way. The 3 songs online probably represent the heavier side of the album.

Any opinions and feedback would be welcome.

I'm currently working on an artwork package that will go with the digital release of the album so hopefully we will have it out in the next couple of weeks or so.

http://looktowindward.bandcamp.com - http://looktowindward.bandcamp.com

You can stream it on there (the quality is actually pretty good) or download it for $10 NZ (approx $7.60 US). For one week there is a 50% discount is you enter the code 'epic'.

Thanks heaps for listening guys.

Look To Windward is currently under evaluation by Progarchives Prog Metal Team.

http://progfreak.com/Look-To-Windward,_dbe,artists,_auto_1532592.xhtml?path=pa/pm - http://progfreak.com/Look-To-Windward,_dbe,artists,_auto_1532592.xhtml?path=pa/pm

Prog Metal Team are always much pressed with bands' evaluation and addition (about 300 bands!) so please do not be hasty, let them take time.

And yeah, an artist with some official releases can be added in our library ... let us know if your official releases can be out.

All good Damo. Not trying to rush anybody it was just the right time to release it. And I guess this is our official release. We are just doing an online release for now until we have the funds to do a nice physical one.

It's all through our bandcamp page linked at the top. We are so stoked that you guys are liking the album. It feels pretty strange to go from my basement recording space to an international audience... awesome though :)

HI Guys - just came across this posting on PA and of-course, being a fellow Kiwi, had to investigate! Have downloaded the EP and I am very impressed - thanks too for including the pdf of the illustrations - awesome! Now I will have to go out and buy the full album. Cheers Smile

No unfortunately we don't have it on any other sites. That's weird though, I don't know why it's doing that. Do you have a Paypal account? Bandcamp also accepts that.

Thanks valravennz, it's great to see another kiwi on here! The full album has way better artwork with it imo as well Smile

I've uploaded our whole album onto Youtube in video form. Each song has an accompanying visual element. They were all designed to complement the songs in some way, not so much as music videos (as most of them are very simple) but as a visual companion to the song (the artwork package with the album is based on these videos). I'll post three on here. The rest are available through Youtube.

When you play these I recommend selecting 720p HD from the little drop down list as the sound quality is also alot better.

Deception

Vad Åskan Sade

Control

Thanks guys!!

Is that Experimental/Post metal? Yea I mean it's not what I first thought of but we are not Tech/Extreme and the only other one would be Progressive metal. I think it's better for others to judge anyway :)

Thanks for the listens guys.

=)

Aw man. I love it when you come across something that you just *know* you're going to love after just the first few notes.

Yaaas. Great vocals. Incredibly melodic yet technical guitars, and big drums! Definitely hearing similarities to the ambiant/melodic side of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF_YIiRoRFM" rel="nofollow - Tesseract ... (very good thing) and without gushing too much, I think the album cover looks awesome too.

Thanks man! Checked out Tesseract too. While not totally my cup of tea (the song Deception had some fantastic chords in it though) I can hear where youre coming from :)
