Just picked this up at Prog Ears, but the author doesn't seem to have got round to PA, although this seems a relevant message:

Hello PEople,

As some of you may know Tim Smith, frontman of Cardiacs, composer, producer, genius and dear friend suffered a massive heart attack in 2008 that has left him in an extremely fragile state. Despite some of the rumours that have been circulating he is not well on the road to recovery. Two and a half years later, he is still in hospital and we really want to get him home.

We have put together a tribute album to raise money in order to hopefully do that.

It's called Leader Of The Starry Skies and will be released on the 6th December through Believers Roast.

Rather than 'straight' covers it features re-workings of Tim's songs by the likes of Steven Wilson, Oceansize, Milk and Honey Band (featuring Andy Partridge), Max Tundra plus many ex/ current Cardiacs members and the so called 'Cardiacs Family', including William D Drake, North Sea Radio Orchestra, Knifeworld, Ultrasound and many more.

As an incentive to pre-order, all CDs bought before the release date will be given another album's worth of material that didn't fit on to the main release.

Buy it here
http://www.thegenepool.co.uk/items/597.htm - http://www.thegenepool.co.uk/items/597.htm

It is crucial that we get the word out as far as we can. If you are a fan of Tim's music or any of the bands involved please share the link above.

I'll be guesting on Steve Davis' Interesting alternative Show on Monday 25th October between 10pm and 12am (GMT+1) I'll be talking about the album and playing a couple of sneak previews.

You can listen here:

Many thanks and lots of love.

Thanks for the info, I just pre-ordered the album and hope that many more will do the same.

This is definitely a cause worth supporting. Thumbs Up

I had to restrain myself from pre-ordering a dozen copies of this. Tim's music has been so utterly life-changing for me that I feel forever indebted to him. I'm honestly struggling to find the words to articulate just how much I want this to be a success. I was shocked when I read that Tim is still in hospital - I think most of us had assumed that, even though we knew he was far from well, he was at least at home with his family. I hope this album will go some way towards making a real difference.

On a less sentimental note, the line-up looks awesome. I'm particularly excited at the prospect of Max Tundra and NSRO's contributions. I've already heard Oceansize's track - a Spratley's Japs cover -  and it's an absolute belter.

I think the message was posted on progears by Kavus Torabi. (Leader of Knifeworld, guitarist with Monsoon Bassoon, Cardiacs and Guapo.  Can't wait to receive the album and the Steve Davis (snooker legend and Magma number1 fan) radio show with Kavus should be an 'interesting' listen

The Steve Davis show is now available to http://www.phoenixfm.com/story/4271.php - download , and a fine listen it is too! Max Tundra's mangling of Will Bleed Amen is every bit as wonderful as I expected it to be.

Paypal does not work in Brasil anymore. Aparently some retards managed to get them so pissed off that they decided to cancel their coverage of the whole country. That actually made me lose the possibility of having a hard-cover DT biography book with my name wrritten in golden letters. That still makes me sad. Cry

Update from Kavus (via Progressive Ears):

In a crazy bit of last minute re-jiggery The Magic Numbers' fantastic contribution A Little Man And A House has been added to the album. Having a 'high profile' name should hopefully further the cause but does mean that we've had to shunt the release date back a week to December 13th.

Let's hope that helps to shift a few more copies! Big smile

Unfortunately no - I'm hoping it'll get here tomorrow (I think mail comes on Christmas Eve LOL)  If not, hopefully not too late next week.  I preordered it the day before it was released, so I'm hoping I get the bonus disc.

Might be worth sending the folks at genepool a quick email to see if you got the bonus disc - I imagine they'd have some kind of record of who did and who didn't.

That's a good plan - I'm assuming I did, since I pre-ordered (the day before pre-orders ended actually Embarrassed) and if I understood correctly all pre-orders got a copy of it.  Still, I'll send them a quick message.

Nice, they got back to me already - a copy of the second disc is indeed on its way with the first.  I just have to wait for them to get here, hopefully it's not TOO much longer...by Saturday would be nice, since I'll be headed back to school on Sunday.
