with a http://www.numavox.com/news.htm - new album due out in January .  Sounds like they won't be touring but a new studio release is certainly welcome.  Sounds like Kerry is doing better after his stroke as well!

It's actually the original Kansas more or less.  Wink

And I, too, am salivating.

This is a dream come true.  I'm going to go out and dance in the streets, even though it's almost midnight here.

Actually, the Kansas that has been recording/touring for 36 years is a spinoff of this band. Interesting how it works.

This news definitely surprised me though. After the stroke i was honestly worried we wouldn't hear much from Kerry Livgren again, so this is fantasitc news.

Great to see Kerry is feeling better.

Kerry was always the main songwriter of Kansas, and certainly was missed when he left the band, and (at least what I have heard) of Steve Walsh's vocals decaying, this is real welcome news.

2nd variation of Kansas there was one before and one after although this one had no future members of Kansas Mach III except Livgren.  Most of this stuff was already recorded they have some things that need to be worked all the way out but not as big a project as starting form scratch.  Not sure what this is going to sound like.  I have heard mixed reactions as to the progginess of the music.  I will buy it anyway. Smile

Here's the Official Press Release on the new cd for Proto Kaw

A new studio release from Proto-Kaw, “Forth” coming
in the Spring of 2011

Three years in the making, “Forth  is the most intriguing Proto-Kaw album to date.  New material from composer Kerry Livgren takes the unique Proto-Kaw sound to fresh, new heights that will excite current fans while expanding their broad appeal even further to entirely new audiences.

Proto-Kaw’s “Forth” again boasts the talents of four original members of an early 1970’s version of the band Kansas.  As with their previous releases, “Forth” contains all original material from Kerry Livgren, the driving influence of the famous version of Kansas.  Credited for such timeless classic hits as “Dust In The Wind” and “Carry On Wayward Son”, Livgren continues to inspire beyond his music.

Musically, “Forth” is undoubtedly Proto-Kaw’s strongest and most diverse work.  This 12 song tour-de-force highlight’s Livgren’s incredibly broad approach to composition. A myriad of ingredients beautifully mesh the styling’s of rock, prog, jazz and beyond.  The ultimate triumph of the new release is the fact that the music cannot be easily relegated to any one particular genre.

Previous releases include the 1972 recordings “Proto-Kaw: Early Recordings from Kansas” which was positively reviewed in 2002 by Rolling Stone Magazine. It was followed by all new studio material after the band reunited in 2004 for the release of “Before Became After” and 2006’s “The Wait of Glory”.

“Forth” will be released on the Numavox label and available at their website, http://www.numavox.com/" rel="nofollow -
as well as Amazon and iTunes.

For additional information on Proto-Kaw, visit
