I went back and looked where I posted this to make sure I did nothing wrong, and sure enough this is a recommendation area.  I made a recommendation, and you chose not to listen.  Why you spent the time to post that you were not going to listen is beyond me.

Javajeff meet our friendly neighborhood forum troll Walter.  Walter likes nothing from any band that was founded after 1989.

That's called neophobia; he probably got that when his parents made him try a slice of lemon as a baby...

Edit: ... in 1989

Well, did you guys listen to some of the tracks?  They sound like many prog groups, and it is worth keeping an eye on.  I usually do not buy new groups, but I was impressed with their sound.  At the very LEAST, they are worth one listen.

Yeah, it's irritating, but we're all used to it. And every once in a while Walter pulls something funny.

Maybe we should have a Walter appreciation thread. Here's some Classic Walter from another thread.

good professional band, unclear from the samples if they could be considered Prog but it's possible--

they list many prog groups as influences, and they market themselves on the one site as "Rock / Progressive Metal / Post Rock" and on facebook as "Post-Progressive Rock."

This is not a thread about Walter, it is a band recommendation by a forum member. Besides, I don't really like anything he has said after 1989.

Shadowlight are a proficient group of musicians from the presented samples, but not really my cup of tea. They lack a sense of rawness that I tend to look for in production quality. But thank you very much for the music recommendation Javajeff. Additionally, I appreciate having the knowledge of a new music sample source. I was heretofore not aware of ReverbNationThumbs Up

I didn't care for Shadowlight.  I must admit that outside of RIO/Avant and related, there isn't a lot of post 80's music I've found that I liked. I'm almost with Walter on this, except that I find many worthwhile modern avant-oriented ones. I tend not to care for modern production values generally-speaking.  Anyway, this music sounds too slick to my ear, not that nuanced, and I feel the production rather amateurish.

There's actually good things in the 80's, it's just underground music. There's also good things between 1990 and now, like Muse.

I think you should all stop picking on Walter. Deep down we all know he is right and there is are no good bands from after 1989.

As for the band the OP mentioned, not bad, but a little generic sounding to me.
