Once a runaway, it seems that the race for the #1 reviewer is now become an interesting issue, as both John and Daniel have almost caught me up. (roughly 2900 to 2700 to 2800 respectively). When the 2000 reviews landmark was crossed, I had over 900 reviews spread over Gatot and Erik and Easy Living were not too far behind)
Hugues (that's moi ) seems relatively constant posting between one and seven reviews a week, depending on his time, but he's been posting less of them because often listening to jazz albums in the last year or so. I've been posting reviews since early 04... So of the three, I'm the less prolific in terms of reviews/week, so I'll need the advantage I have
Daniel observes lengthy silence periods and then publishes a flurry of reviews like a madman... in the last twenty days since he's back, he's posted well over 60 reviews.... Daniel has been reviewing since March 05, but I believe that his rate of reviewing seriously increased in late 06
John is probably the most constant of the three reviewers, his review total never staying three days in a row the same.... John is reviewing since August 06, so he's quite a contender, as well, because he's by far the newest of the three
So the question is: while that it's clear that both challengers will overtake me in the near-future (and it's about friggin' time too, coz this #1 label has lost its charm a long time ago and is almost a burden), but will it happen before the 3000 review mark or past it????
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weird part is that the French-speaking Belgians are often portrayed as under-achievers (our Flemish-speaking compatriots are less polite and diplomatic), yet the top two reviewer spots are are squatted by two of them. Is prog that much an exception in life?...

There is a lot of free download albums out there...... Dw Dunphy, Misantropeel and Senmuth. Enough to drag all three of them over 3000 with a good margin.

It depends... if Sean Trane goes on a rampage in the next week, he has a pretty good head start, and can easily win. I'll vote for Ziggy, seeing the amazing number of reviews he posts on some days.

What if somebody came in from the blue and post 3000+ reviews in a short time?
I mean,it's possible someone's writing reviews and storing them on a hard-disk...until (s)he decides to copy/paste them in PA.
...
I foresee both Daniel and John will overtake Hugues soon (and about at the same time!), but I'm pretty sure they won't reach the 3000 mark before Hugues.

Must be Hugh. If I remember the trend of the last months well enough, I don't think that ZZ and MS will catch up in due time. Moreover, Conor Fynes needs more time to digest those remaining 2565 Senmuth albums and be the winning outsider .

It's simple. It's a matter of psychology.
Hugues will let it all pass: he knows when he's been beaten.
Zowie Ziggy wants to reach the nr. 1 spot: he aimed long for it. Seismologists expect another outburst of reviews soon.
In the end Mellotron Storm will beat everyone, because a steady pace will always be more effective than heavy explosions.

There is approx 500 legally free downloads albums listed here. As you are the folky proggy man here; start with the three albums from http://www.herbahameli.cat/discografia/" rel="nofollow - here and continue with Dw Dunphy before moving on to Senmuth. That should take you to 3050 reviews.

A library with prog? I'll be damned if I could find a library with that genre! But i guess over years that isn't too ridiculous. It's still a damn lot though [/QUOTE]
Actually it's not a local library... It's a nationwide Mediatheque that was fiirst created in the 30's to allow easier and cheap access to culture for everyone, especially the blue-collar working class. It's not just movies
This public(Gv't)-owned system used to be heavily subsididized, but lately (last 10-years) they've become more financially independant (forced by budget cuts) and regularly comes under fire from the industry.... but I've bought hundreds of albums after discovering them through the system.
This system works from specialized "shops" in big and medium cities (8 places in Brussels, for ex) where they have very partial collections and computers to browse all of their catalogues and the whereabouts they're located.... then you can reserve them and they get it and it waits for you 10 days for you at the designated counters. Smaller cities have their local book libraries share space for this system (generally a small selection and a computer for reservations on the counter.
Small outback Ardennes villages receive weekly visits from walk-in discobusses, filled with a selection of discs and the reservations that have arrived... You'll bring them back at the bus' next week's passage or drop them in the system's closest mailboxes.

but I've got an order from Syn-phonic (20 discs) coming in (should be getting it next week)...

I could indeed do this by making half-baked reviews, or even making reviews of albums I only heartd twice or so (but I (almost) never do that), then post them just as late as I can, but what would be the point??? .... ... to screw with my friends John or Daniel??? and look like an arsehole in doing so??? Naaaaaahh!!!....
and right now, I'm out of albums that I can readily review....I've got something like 50 albums ahead of me (like Frogg Cafe or French TV), but i simply haven't integrated them enough to actually start rambling on about them. I just reviewed Island's Pyrrho posthumous release after owning it over two years.
Soooo unless I happen to find something I could review without having to listen to it a few dozen of times (The Beatles or Robert Plant come to mind for ex), I'm going about as fast as I can.
