I really enjoy the 3 song album format. You have Close to the Edge and Relayer from Yes, Pawn Hearts from VDGG. You also have Animals from Pink Floyd (I know it's really 5 songs, but I count that as well). What else is out there that I'm missing?

Mike Oldfields Ommadawn is technically 3 tracks - Side 1, Side 2, On Horseback. But it is counted as just one song

Osanna's Palepoli is a great 3 song album

Mahavishnu Orchestra Live album Between Nothingness and eternity is great probably the most energetic live album i've heard from the 70's

and Magma's second album 1001 degrees centigrades is enjoyable aswell.

can't think of anymore right now

Another great 3 song album is A Passion Play, by Jethro Tull. I know it's two tracks on the disc, but the story of the hare who lost his spectacles was originally a separate track.

Herbie Hancock has a bunch. Sextant and Crossing. I can't think of any more...

Agreed TAAB and APP are two of my all time favorites. I would actually consider those 1 song albums, though. But, I guess by definition if you include the "THWLHS," there really are three parts in APP.

I think the format of one 20-minute  song and then two 10-15 minute songs  works really well. I guess there's just not that many, since that makes for a 35-45 minute album and everything these days seems to much longer than that. I also like that length of album better, but as we all know with CD's... those days are gone.

Par Lindh Project - Mundus Incompertus

1 Baroque Impresssion No 1 (9.10)
2 The Crimson Shield (6.38)
3 Mundus Incompertus (26.43)
(Total Time 42.34)

Anyone who likes Emerson/Wakeman influenced keyboard prog needs to check out this band.

Vangelis - The Dragon

1 The Dragon (15.18)
2 Stuffed Aubergine (11.41)
3 Stuffed Tomato (9.39)

Very early Vangelis album pre Heaven Hell. No synths. I like this album a lot.

Tangerine Dream - Cyclone

1 Bent Cold Sidewalk (13.11)
2 Rising Runner Missed By Endless Sender (5.04)
3 Madrigal Meridian (20.33)

Out of line with most of Tangerine Dream's music this is more a traditional pog rock sounding album with vocals on the first couple of tracks. Not one my favourites.

ZEN ROCK AND ROLL's ''End Of The Age'' is an excellent 3 song album, which I personally find a masterpiece and can't really understand it's low ratings. One of the best symphonic works I've heard the last 2 years...

Anthony Phillips "Gypsy Suite" could be considered a 3 song album. Though divided in small parts/song, contains "Gypsy Suite", "The Crystal Ball", and "Tarka". Great album, Anthony Phillips is a great acoustic guitarist.
