When I saved my review of "The King & I" by The Residents, all of the capital Y's and small T's got replaced by apostrophes, and line breaks were added all over the place.

When I edited the review and saved it again, it was fine.

Spooky.

Lots of weird glitches can happen when copying and pasting from MS Word.

Dashes always turn into question marks for me. I've never gotten this, though.Ermm

Actually. I paste from notepad, and this is the first time it's done that to me.

When I copy and paste from Word various punctuation marks change to question marks, meaning I have to edit the review/bio immediately after posting it. This in itself is a very minor glitch but having just edited a biography my username has mysteriously disappeared from the bottom of said bio. Is there an easy fix for this glitch, if that is what it is?

From the lack of response I guess this isn't a problem for anyone else.

I'm sorry to keep bellyaching about this but if I didn't have to edit every review/bio that I post then I wouldn't feel the need to complain. I always read through anything I post and edit as required but it's fairly obvious a lot of members don't bother to do this. In particular, it makes bios look very amateurish. Is there no easy fix for this problem?

That's the last time I mention this... in future I'll just ignore the reams of question marks that appear instead of dashes, full stops, etc.

It's caused by PA not recognizing the Word punctuation characters (the   is a separate character from --, and I believe this happens with international accented characters as well), so it replaces them with ? because it doesn't know what to do. You should just stop writing reviews in Word. Notepad isn't as pretty, but it's clean text and won't add anything.

I'm quite certain it's possible to fix this, as I have not seen it as a problem on any other website and the PA forum recognizes them, but :effort:.

Thanks Henry.

I hadn't used Notepad before and I see what you mean about its basic text not being so pretty. Still, I'll give it a try.

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but whenever someone forgets an html tag on a review on the front page, that throws off the rest of the page.  Right now most of the front page is in italics.  There probably ought to be functionality to reset all tags at the end of a review.  Just a thought.....

Nonsense, that's why we have moderators to manually edit reviews!
