I've recently heard some Cat Stevens and my conclusion was that he could possibly be in ProgArchives because he is in the psychedelic rock movement.

There are certainly some proggy moments on the very good "Foreigner" and "Numbers" albums, as is the case with many 70s artists.  But even PR would be a very hard sell I think.

You'll need to make a more thorough and convincing case though, a serious suggestion needs facts and examples.

I agree. I like the "Foreigner" suite, but I don't think that a few mildly proggy songs would qualify him for PA. He is a great pop singer/songwriter though.

Cat stevens is first and foremost a folk & folk rock artiste and our team evaluated his case quite a while ago (along with al Stewart) and we decided that his works although not devoid of interest for progheads, simply didn't have enough an impact on progressive rock and he was not influenced enough by prog rock to be fitting either prog folk or prog-related.

And both artistes have not brought any new works to let us re-evaluate their respective oeuvres, even if I'm not really aware of Yussuf Islam's recent releases.

I have a question ...

Cat Stevens was rejected or ??? Because i think that his musical creations are slightly progressive. Cat Stevens will be good for Prog Folk if this suggestion will be accepted.

Cat Stevens was marvellous. I love his music.

He was not, though, in any way, shape, or form a progressive rock artist, even if Wakeman did play on his most famous release.

I love Cat Stevens, but I don’t think he belongs here. No more than Tom Waits or Neil Young.

Cat Stevens switches on my prog receptors, but I think he doesn't fit in the site's standards
