Cynic are a phenomenal band, but maudlin of the Well gets the vote for me, hands down. Bath and LYBM were the most life-changing albums for me, and the band still never ceases to amaze me after hundreds of listens. -------------

If you take away Part the Second I'd probably go with Cynic. Both bands really changed the way I thought about metal and what the genres limitations would be.
