Would The Pink Fairies be Proto-Prog?
I think they are considered Proto-Metal and Proto-Punk but definately Psychedelic as well. I LOVE this!

Certainly Pink Fairies plays music both for Progsters, Metallers and Punkers. But Pink Fairies are not Prog.

No, not even prog-related - as a great fan, saw them twice around period of Neverneverland (one incredible gig at Royal Holloway College and one stinker at Kingston Swimming Baths, and a three years later I think at Guildford. I was quite young when Neverneverland came out and I've now become reacquainted with this music. I was 7 and I'm positive this was one of the first 8-tracks I've heard.
[correction: being born in 1962 I would have been 9 when this came out] Thought I'd throw in this link.

I Love the band to bits have all there albums on Vinyl but Prog ? hmmm nope don't think so, but i do know a band that should be here in the Archives and that's THE SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND !!!!

I don't consider them prog but I'm surprised they haven't been listed here, what with their strong ties to Hawkwind. Years ago, around 1990, i met a guy in a record shop in Ottawa, Canada, who had recently spent a long bus ride going out to British Columbia sitting beside Paul Rudolph. He showed me a business card from Rudolph, who at the time was involved in selling motorcycles out in BC. P.S. l like the Pink Fairies, and have a few recordings |
