Subject: Bands To Be Included On PA

All these bands in their genre or subgenre are determident, provoking, intriguing, form-breaking, even revolutionary, some might say. But are they form-breaking enough to be included on PA? Some might say, if we can have Björk, we can have Mortiis; if we can have Enslaved and Arcturus, we can have Emperor; if we can have Alcest, we can have Burzum; if we can have Rhapsody and Kamelot, we can have Stratovarius, If we can have Khanate, we can have Sunn O))) and Moss; if we can have Senmuth, we can have Dimaension X, and so on.
Anyhow, which band do you think is the most suitable to be included on PA?

Some might say that, but then some other, like the Admins and Collabs, might come in and say that this particular logic (if X is here, then why not Y) is not used on PA.

If we have Bjork, Tori Amos and Japan we can have everything....but we are not doomed. Apart of it I don't know any of the bands above, only there's a specific thread for suggestions where you can add links and useful information.

That's quite right, but now I'm curious about the general opinions of proggers, not of admins and sons, who by the way prohibit everything that's over their limit and imagination, and allow anything that's closer to their taste. See examples above, eg. Björk. No offence.

I don't know anything about these bands. I'm leaving these up to you.
I'd rather suggest Velvet Underground for proto-prog and...to be cont'd later, but not in this thread.

Stratovarius-Season of change is a song I like very much. For me this band is a great band but I don't think should be added here. From a different perspective if you have a look right now at the PA Top 100 at position 83 you will find Miles Davis - Kind of blue. I would say that Stratovarius-Episode is more proggy than Kind of blue. I will even go further and say Kind of blue has no connection with jazz rock/fusion(because that's why we have Miles here). This kind of dilemmas are present on this site and will be. I cannot image a good way of solving this issue. I could easily give 5 stars for Miles Davis on rateyourmusic but I will probably avoid reviewing it here because liking is one thing and being progressive is a different thing. The problem is that some artists during their careers are doing different kind of things. Music is not science and progarchives is not yet fully democratic community(you can propose but only the admins will accept or reject and not the all other members). At the moment I prefer this way of organizing the things because I think it is the best we have. Voting on polls for example is also disables for newbies because of spam. We will have a bit a chaos in case everybody can propose and everybody can vote.

Emperor has been evaluated by the Proig Metal Team:

I think I would put the Alice Cooper Group (not solo, if only beause they weren't very progressive) in the prog-related section, because of their definate musical influences, lyrical content, instrument playing, and concepts. I would also put The Velvet Underground in here because they were a form of Art Rock, with multimedia and such. Proto-prog would be a guess, like someone_else had mentioned.

BURZUM??? holy moly... for what reason are they even listed here? Voted for Sunn o)) - actually one of the most progressive acts around... though not in the classic sense of progressive rock or even music. But I adore them If they were from the 70s no one would be asking if progressive or not
