Above i selected what i consider to be the Heaviest Yes songs. All post 70's so it's a fair vote.

I'll vote for Machine Messiah, which i'm sure most people with. But i also love Spirit of Survival

From this list I'm glad to be the first one to vote for "Owner Of A Lonely Heart". The whole of 90125 is outstanding.

Interesting choices for "heavy". Personally I can't see OOALH as at all heavy, but "Parallels" on the other hand weighs a metaphorical ton!

Machine Messiah, no contest.  I love the contrast between the dark, heavy parts and the lighter, more melodic moments.  Very nice lyrics too.

I was thinking about 70's songs but if i added a 70's song it'd be no contest

I never liked Machine Messiah as much as others on this site--and it was my least fav on Drama---except for Steves great guitar work---it's heavy but no Gates---

My vote undoubtedly goes to Sound Chaser.

As a matter of fact, I like all of this songs pretty much... well, except New State of Mind, which if I recall is nice too, but not as much as the other 4. And it's a hard choice between the other 4... I'm feeling rather inclined towards Machine Messiah, but Shock to the System is great for me too, as well as Spirit of Survival.

Machine Messiah. One of my all-time favorite Yes tracks from one of my favorite Yes albums. That line-up should have stuck together longer.

Heart of the Sunrise? Gates of Delirium? Changes?.........

All heavier than most of these songs..... but yes, Machine Messiah is the heaviest (and the best!)

I'll be the first to vote for New State of Mind.  I actually don't mind that entire album, to be honest.

Having been around since the begining, I think I know as much as anyone on this subject. Forget the 'Drama' & '90120' drivel. Listen to 'The Gates of Delerium' for something 'Heavy'!?...

As i said earlier in the thread i didn't want to add the 70's tracks because then there really would be no need to vote and it'd be Gates of Delirium - 60 votes.

But i agree it is one of their heaviest pieces of music

From the poll choices? Machine Messiah.

But the real answer is South Side of the Sky.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBAauFYod80" rel="nofollow - SSOTS

And a really great cover of it. And ya, that's Jon Anderson during the intro.

But I am interpreting this as more 'Heavy Rock' not 'Yeah that's heavy man'

Gates is probably the best prog track ever.

Great choice. I'm still sticking with SSOTS. Gonna toss America into the mix too.

Machine Messiah is the closest they've gotten to anything "heavy" but "Gates Of Delirium" does have some surprisingly chaotic moments but otherwise it's just conventional epic-Yes

Agree, MM of those.

A long time since I've heard it, and I know it'snot terribly popular (the album, anyway), but I used to like 'Big Generator' the track. Certainly heavier than 'Lonely Heart', FWIW.

Machine Messiah. Probably my favourite Yes track from them all. Drama = MASTERPIECE

Machine Messiah might be the only one I consider to be "heavy." THe others are good and I like "new state of mind." However, my "heavy" Yes tracks would be "ritual,""gates of delirium,""big generator" and "city of love."

I've just plonked Drama on the TT - yes indeed - the finest Yes album ever (of course I love Tales, Relayer, Topographic etc....) but DRAMA............. This album just kills....................
Just like Slayer - nothing beats Hell Awaits no matter what.....

Obviously Machine Messiah, but I really enjoy Shock to the System (prob my fave off Union, honestly).
