Hello!

Firstly i'd like to say how great it is that PA is so receptive to new prog, independent prog bands trying to 'get out there more'. I had a great experience with http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=21556" rel="nofollow - DamoXt7942 who accepted us onto PA and the space rock section with our first EP release least year http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5404" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5404 , who purchased the EP and then even reviewed it! Was great seeing as i've been a long time browser of this website and have discovered many of my faviourite bands on here. Anyway. If anyone is interested in taking a look at our new release, and perhaps adding it to the archives Big smile, please read on!

We've just (digitally) released our second EP, titled 'Into the Eyes of Those Who Sleep' idependently via CDBABY ( http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ovals2" rel="nofollow - http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ovals2 ). Influences include Pink Floyd, Radiohead, CAN and Tool. We are releasing the physical digipak cd on March 25 in Melbourne, Australia and then touring major australian cities. Reviews/online pumps for the EP have already been surfacing on Sounds of Oz ( http://www.soundsofoz.com/2011/02/28/into-the-eyes-of-those-who-sleep-the-ovals/" rel="nofollow - http://www.soundsofoz.com/2011/02/28/into-the-eyes-of-those-who-sleep-the-ovals/ ), Scattered Locality ( http://scatteredlocality.com/2011/02/24/play-school-windows-have-nothing-on-this/" rel="nofollow - http://scatteredlocality.com/2011/02/24/play-school-windows-have-nothing-on-this/ ), a major australian music website called Tone Deaf ( http://www.tonedeaf.com.au/photos/slideshows/59657/hot-australian-artists-2011-part-2.htm/5" rel="nofollow - http://www.tonedeaf.com.au/photos/slideshows/59657/hot-australian-artists-2011-part-2.htm/5 ), and The AU Review ( http://www.theaureview.com/music/free-music-the-ovals-into-the-eyes-of-those-that-sleep-full-ep" rel="nofollow - http://www.theaureview.com/music/free-music-the-ovals-into-the-eyes-of-those-that-sleep-full-ep ).

Website: http://www.myspace.com/theovals" rel="nofollow - www.myspace.com/theovals

Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/showoffservices/sets/into-the-eyes-of-those-that/" rel="nofollow - http://soundcloud.com/showoffservices/sets/into-the-eyes-of-those-that/

Any of the above three websites has full songs to stream, the last has the full EP. The bio/info on our PA page is quite old too.

Many thanks!

Thanks guys! 'Hawkwind meets early Gong' you say Scott? Cool. Those you tube clips are older material though (and one is a cover of 'outside your door' by CAN), 'Mars' is from our first EP for example. The material on the new EP is a bit heavier, influenced by pink floyd, radiohead, tool and kraut rock.

I will be recieving the pressed cd's very soon so if anyone else is interested in reviewing and would like a digipak message me your address and I will mail one out.

I am pleased to announce the youtube clips I made in tribute to '2001: A Space Odyssey' movie classic to the music of The Ovals!
Thanks Ovals members for allowing me to use the great music!

I hope the Ovals members like it. It took about a day to make both clips and I managed to import enough pictures to tell the story of the whole movie in screen grabs. Let me know what you think! Sometimes the music is uncannily appropriate to the images...

Hi Folks, thanks very much to you for reviewing and listening to our EP above. I'm pleased to announce The Ovals have recorded and released a few new songs that we have been gigging around the Melbourne music scene in the last year or so. Two singles, to be precise. One psych, and the other, which will hopefully be of interest around here, prog! 'Acrobat' and it's B-side was released last November and sees us going a bit more 'heavy', and at the same time more proggy than our last EP Into the Eyes of those Who Sleep. We recorded this one to 8-track tape for a lovely warm feel Smile Check it out at:

https://soundcloud.com/#theovals/sets/singles" rel="nofollow - https://soundcloud.com/#theovals/sets/singles  (first two tracks)

If anyone would like to review it we would be chuffed!

The A-side to the single can be previewed here:
