These guys actually do sound like the Mars Volta. But IMO the mainstream component is actually much more prevalent than the progressive one in their music. I'll notify the Crossover Prog Team for the evaluation. I can see these guys standing near The Pinapple Thief or Coheed And Cambria, rather then in Heavy Prog with The Mars Volta.

Soundly rejected based on their first album from 2009 'First Temple', and the 2008 EP 'The Penance and the Patience':

But they have a new album out called 'Pink Lemonade', so a re-eval could be considered.

Unfortunately myspace only has samples of their earlier work: https://myspace.com/closureinmoscow/music/songs,and" rel="nofollow - https://myspace.com/closureinmoscow/music/songs,and their website only has a single sample from it ('The Church of the Technochrist'): http://www.closureinmoscow.com/music/" rel="nofollow - http://www.closureinmoscow.com/music/ .

Here's some YouTube samples though:

Let's see what comments we get eh? Tongue

Edit: The whole album has been uploaded to 'the Tube' by the band: http://www.youtube.com/user/closureinmoscow/videos" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/user/closureinmoscow/videos , plus some other related videos, but posting whole albums as YouTube samples (as I have often done in the past Embarrassed) isn't generally approved these days due to the slowing down of the page loading it causes for those with a slow Internet connection.

Funny thing, I think they are as "non-prog" as many other bands from the site (Nine Inch Nails, I'm looking at you...). CiM is called progressive by many people, but I thought it would be hard for them to be accepted because it's too "happy"; pop isn't even the real problem here, since there's The Beatles and Coheed and Cambria as well (yeah, I know The Beatles is only proto-prog, but whatever).

Sadly, I still see them more like an alternative rock band (maybe?) with progressive/psychedelic elements, even though Pink Lemonade feels more like something a prog band would do.

Anyway... The album version of The Church of the Technochrist is one of the best songs I ever heard. YOU GOT TO HAVE FAITH!

Great band currently on Progstreaming.

Same category as The Mars Volta i.e. Heavy Prog.

From what I heard "Pink Lemonade" is nowhere near a prog album - nice mainstream music though.

This was my conclusion "indie/stoner/happy/pop with prog elements but really does not fit on PA"
