I'll have to go with Liquid Tension Experiment, their melodies are better (that's debatable) in my opinion. Although both are great.

LTE.
I find Planet X rather boring. I lose interest halfway through the couple of CDs I have. LTE 2 is the better of the two IMO.

BTW when you throw in the deplorable Liquid Trio studio album, Planet X has been much more consistent with three solid studio and one live releases |

Yeah OSI is an awesome band but I wanted this poll to have a consistent theme by pitting two instrumental prog metal bands against each other. Incidentally, my favorite bands in that genre are Animals as Leaders and Amogh Symphony but LTE and Planet X are still awesome.

Actually they are very different bands when it comes to compositions and philosophy of writing music. LTE is definitely more versatile. Basically a dream team of prog for me...
