If it's MiniMoog vs Pro Soloist then Moog easily wins. If it was Arp 2600 vs Moog Modular then it's a tougher choice. -------------

| If your talking about the modular Moog as opposed to the MiniMoog, then it beats the Soloist. ARP had better synths: 2600, Odyssey, Solina, etc. |

Voted for ARP, but I adore MiniMoog too. However, my favourite vintage monosynth is Korg MS 20. Honorable mention to Sequential Circuits Pro One. |

I neither own one of them but, speaking about hardware, they are in different weight categories ARP Pro-soloist is a preset synthesizer, which has limited number of pre-programmed timbres/presets; you can't create your own sound. Minimoog has full features of "big" synthesizers - ability to create sounds, not limited to leads. You can also create special effects and noises, like machine sounds, or nature sounds, e.g. wind noise. So, Minimoog is far ahead in diversity, due to it's capabilities in sound creation. ARP keyboard has aftertouch, Moog doesn't but ARP lack of pitch and modulation wheels , like Moog has. However, pitch bend can be triggered from keyboard, when aftertouch mode is selected. here in the video explained how pitch bend on Pro-Soloist works: This effect is exploited in famous Tony Banks solo in Riding The Scree as a keyboard player, I'd choose Nord Lead 2X - it has the same programmability as Minimoog, but it also can do polyphonic strings/organ/pads |

I prefer the sound of the moog to the arp, although the arp does have its place.
