Never having heard them before, I picked up their 2011 release http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Father_Will_Guide_Me_Up_a_Rope_to_the_Sky" rel="nofollow - My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky .  Like it a lot.  How's the rest of their catalog?  Favorite songs on the album are probably "No Words/No Thoughts" and "You f**king People Make Me Sick.

Great band, I love everything they've done but they've got a decent amount of variety in their stuff.  Next I'd recommend you check out The Great Annihilator.

Definitely try Children of God. And Filth from their earlier stuff.

Their earlier stuff can be a bit harse for some people though. I recommend trying some of the songs first. All but one of the new songs were actually originally written for Angels of Light who are also worth checking out by the way.

I saw them live in May and I have to say that it was the most intense concert experience I've ever been to. My girlfriend fainted three times, numerous other people fainted too and it just felt more like a ritual than a concert. This is from wikipedia and it's not far from the truth: "Since Swans' reformation, Gira has made a point of maintaining the intensity of their live show, stating that it is at once "soul-uplifting and body-destroying". He has also developed a penchant for turning off the air conditioning before Swans perform, comparing the experience to a Native American sweat lodge."

A highly recommended concert experience for sure.

Here's a cool new song that they've been playing live:

Had to post this too. Gotta love 80s Swans.
