These two debuts are comparable in multiple ways. Which one do you prefer? I choose PF.

Orchid is one of my all time favorite debuts, so as much as I like Pale Folklore, my vote goes to Opeth.

Only one of these albums has She Painted Fire Across The Skyline on it, so...

Dunno. Both really good and really close in quality.

I wish Agalloch would re-record Pale Folklore with a better drummer and then master it so the levels are not as annoying. And then re-record the drums on The Mantle too.

This is mean.

I love both albums. But I'm going to go with Pale Folklore, for reasons unknown.

Opeth, Agalloch's music has never really impressed me much.

Wow, this poll is much closer than I would have thought it would be. I would vote, but I have not heard all of Pale Folklore. Anyway, Agalloch and Opeth are both great bands!

They don't bother me on the Mantle, but yea I agree with that about PF. I hate how on Dead Winter Days you can hear the goddam pick on the strings.
