Dunno really for sure but I think REM released it after Talk Talk split so it would seem unlikely.  I have never heard it.  I reckon your 'old dude' might just win the bet.  Us Old dudes are normally right Wink

Please define "OLD"?
I always get a kick out of what each generation considers old.

I suspect you are wrong.  Talk Talk had more or less split up when 'Automatic For The People', the REM album on which Star Me Kitten appeared, came out.  So unless Talk Talk has some special contact with REM and were given the song before REM themselves released it, then I think it seems unlikely.  Also, Talk Talk had moved into a more experimental direction in the last few years they were together so it doesn't really fit from that point of view either.

Did you try Google?  (I did and it came up blank.)
