A message from Jon Lord official website ( http://jonlord.org/" rel="nofollow - http://jonlord.org/ ):

"I would like all my friends, followers, fans and fellow travelers to know that I am fighting cancer and will therefore be taking a break from performing while getting the treatment and cure.

I shall of course be continuing to write music – in my world it just has to be part of the therapy – and I fully expect to be back in good shape next year.

God bless and see you soon
Jon"

Wish Jon to win, we need him and his music.

Horrible to here.  Glad he is optimistic about the outcome.  Do we know what kind of cancer/where it is located?

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

I'm not pessisimistic, but the last times I read a musician talking about his cancer, it was Dio and he went away just a few months after this announcement (and not to talk about Voivod's Denis D'Amour).
I just hope it's a "minor" cancer and that Jon Lord has still some years of music before him.

Indeed, rarely does one truly get past it for any amount of time.  I've had family members "get through" cancer temporarily ...but nope, it comes right back and gets you.

Nobody can evaluate how advanced and how dangerous this cancer is; even the physicians can only estimate that. I just don't think it is reasonable to estimate the degree of the disease in this forum; the only thing one can do is think of Jon, hope, light a candle, say a prayer or do something else to (perhaps) give this great musician power. Anyway I wish him all the best.

I hope he gets well. What a great musician. I'm actually listening to Deep Purple right now.
