I often like track number six, unfortunatly on many albums it isn't included

All opening tracks is usually masterpieces!

Examples:

  • GG - Advent of Panurge, Runaway, Proclamation, Just the Same, Interview, Pantagruel's Nativity
  • Genesis - Looking for Someone, Musical Box, Watcher of the Skies, Dancing with the Moonlith knight, Dance on a Volcano, Eleventh earl of mar
  • King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid man, Cirkus, Larks tongues pt1, Red
  • Dream Theater - Pull Me Under, 6:00, Change of Seasons, Glass Prison
  • Supertramp - School, Give a Little bit, Cannonball
  • Pink Floyd - Breathe, Shine on your crazy diamond, One of these days
  • VDGG - Killer, Lemmings, Undercover man, When she comes
  • ELP - Barbarian, Tarkus, Endless Enigma, Jerusalem

there is a trend though, 1 song (side A or B), last song of either side, third song, second or penultimate song.

but the question was best song on the album, which in Script's case is The Web

Steve Vai has an interesting concept: Track 7 on his albums is ALWAYS a ballad. That's why his ballad album is titled "7th song".

Other than that, I really don't know any more interesting stories about track numbers.

Its always either the first or the last track in most of my collection. You've got to start and end with a bang.
