Is it just me or is September an unusually busy month? Multiple votes of course.  I'm not planning on all of these.  I had to stop with the pre-orders after five. LOL

I'm keeping three open slots in case I'm missing something.  Make suggestions and I'll fill them in if I'm interested. Big smile

Just voted for the one's I've ordered so far.

Heritage sounds like a good rock album (not really metal, no screaming, not quite metal-chunkiness in the guitars, etc) by Opeth.

I'd assume DToE sounds like...Dream Theater.

I'm interested in the Opeth, not in the Dream Theater.  From the list, Primus.

What the heck was that for? LOL  I don't know everything.

OK an Opeth and a Dream Theater.  I haven't taken an interest in either of those artists.  I added the OT because I have a lot of OT, but I'm not planning on adding any more.  Which is not to slam any of those.  I think I'll keep the first two out for the moment.

Already have the new Umphrey's McGee album, have pre-ordered the new Opeth album, and am a bit torn on whether or not I'll get the releases from Ozric Tentacles and Steven Wilson right away.

OK Opeth's in.  Another nomination I'm interested in or a second to the Dream Theater and I'll add that.

I misunerstood the question Embarrassed and voted for Steve Hackett because I am a big fan of his, LTW (Lettuce, Tomato, on White Bread, perhaps?) because that sounds like it could be awesome, and Tori Amos because her newest sounds extremeley interesting, and  could possibly be terrible or magnificent.  I may not be getting these in the forseeable future, but they are certainly on my radar.

Damn you again!!!TongueLOLBig smile  The official release isn't for another couple of weeks.

It's multiple votes so pick whatever you are interested in whether you have it or not.  I saw the Dream Theater being advertised on one of the TVs at the gym today.

Dammit again!!!  I just saw Steve Hackett is on the Steven Wilson album and that one has a $90.00 limited edition deluxe version. Angry

Heritage - what I've heard is "Damnation +" which in my book is a very good thing.

DTOE is solid DT but absolutely nothing new.

The UM is not prog. It's good Umphrey's but hitting a completely different side of their huge palette from the proggy Mantis. It's good but not great.

Those are the ones I've heard the others I'll check out eventually.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I´m really looking forward to Steven Wilson´s new solo album. I´m pretty curious, and I´d like to hear what he sounds like with a more jazzy drummer.
Ozric´s Papyrus Simians is up there as well.

The multiple votes option really should just allow a person to vote for more than one choice rather than one over and over, which was the intent.

If the person who did that is really a DT fan then we must now disregard the tally for that one.  I could revise the poll and drop Dream Theater as an option, take a look...

I'll give it a few minutes and put DT back.

You probably should have suggested that before someone suggested Dream Theater then. Tongue

Also missing is Pain of Salvation's Road Salt Two and Mastodon's The Hunter, which I'd wager are pretty anticipated around these parts. I'm mainly looking forward to Grace for Drowning myself.

Tis true that September has been hectic this year for some reason or other...

Apologies to any I missed that I was or wasn't interested in.  I wasn't after doing a complete poll on what is coming out this month.  Still, what else is out there that I've missed?  And is it just me or is this an unusually prolific month?

Anyway, the first of the pre-orders just got here:

On my second spin.  Hasn't wowed me the way Mantis did.  Mantis seemed to be more of an effort to do a completely prog album.  This seems a little bit more of a diversification, which isn't out of line from what they've done on previous albums.  I try to stay away from expectations for a new album by an artists I've fallen madly in love with (musically speaking).  They're one of those bands I don't I'll ever be disappointed by.

Booth Love, funky Steely Danish.  The Floor, excellent...
Conduit, cool, they've been doing that live already, I have that song on the Summer Sampler from 2010.
Hajimemash*te kind of like proggy Allman Brothters stuff.

You hate everything else?  Essentially every prog genre is represented in the list, by many prolific artists.

As a music fan you should be able to at least appreciate every single one of these artists on a certain level. That's not to say you have to be a fan or even like them really, but to flat out "hate" them is silly if you ask me.

None of these do I plan to get "right away", but not long down the road I expect that I will get that Zorn album (mind you, there are some older Zorn albums that I may get sooner).  It's very rare that I get an album that's been freshly released, and can't ever remember pre-ordering an album.  I have yet to hear any albums from 2011, and only heard a few from 2010.  The only albums I recall getting soon after release were Magma's E Re and Univers Zero's Clivages.

Yeah, I'm not really big on pre-orders.  You can't have my money until you can hand over the goods.  But for some reason I lost my mind and put in for five. LOL  Most of those I pre-ordered to get special editions and/or autographed.

Mentioned so far not in the poll but coming out this month:
Wolves In The Throne Room Celestial Lineage
Arch/Matheos Sympathetic Resonance
Anathema Falling Deeper
Pain of Salvation Road Salt Two (Amazon has the US release as October, is this one coming out in September overseas?)  Same for the Tangent Comm.  Same question.
Mastodon The Hunter
Agents of Mercy Black Forest

That's 15 slots unless I should count in the two I mentioned as October.  Room for 8-10 more, I think if this doesn't cover them all, then I can launch a popularity contest poll.  But I don't want to leave anyone out.

Bunch of new releases slated for the 27th this month.  Two Gentle Giant remasters...

I'm not really an autograph hound per say, but I didn't have any from either of these three.

Wilson and Opeth have pleased me, heck even DT is good.
new Primus? hmm...

Posted By: Slartibartfast

The new Primus is good.  There is a certain amount of noticeable rehash of some musical ideas and of course Les usual subject matter about f**ked up people.  Musically it's good.  Holy Cow, the Opeth has just had serious piling on.  I'm still not yet interested in it or the Dream Theater or the Ozric Tentacles.  Zorn I'm saving for later.  Really need to hear some of it first.
