No need for me to mention other in this one; I loved Univers Zero's Clivages. Incidentally, since you delete the poll options when you are ending a round, I wanted to mention that it would be preferable for me if you would save by copy-pasting the full results of each round. For whatever strange reason, I like to see the record of polls that I gave participated in (though posts are generally more interesting to me than poll results and those stay in tact). No biggie to me though either way.

By the way, I used to delete the poll options because this is the only legal way to ending a poll if there is no "POLL END" button.

Way too late, I was going for some absurdist type humour there (had wanted to mention it much earlier but opted not to). If you declare a winner, it doesn't really matter if people continue to vote in the poll.I think that I can end a poll for you though if you like and you can always ask me or an admin to lock the topic -- though personally I am reluctant to lock topics as I don't like to hinder discussion much ( I know you can end posting yourself and don't need me for that but when locking the topic it also prevents people from being able to vote.). Perhaps in the future you could copy and paste results if you chose to and if you do more of these competitions this way.

Another strong year for Prog! The strongest of this decade ever, there are 25 albums with 100+ reviews!

I prefer Heavy Metal Fruit by a hair over Aquarius.

Coyote, Clivages and Heavy Metal Fruit. Not that I've heard much more from this selection. I probably don't own more than 10-12 albums released this year.

I would have said quite the contrary.

Self Preserved has a few strong tracks, so I guess I'm going to have to go with that...

A LOT of releases here that I´ve yet to hear. I´m especially looking forward to Univers Zero´s Clivages, but for now music buying is sadly out of the question...

Out of those I have, I´m voting Anathema. I really think they reinvented themselves - both soundwise but also in terms of style. Of course Steven Wilson was mixing the thing, but if you hear the demos of the album, you´ll hear the shift happened much before.

My favorite release of 2010 is however the mindbogglingly fantastic and out of this world By the waters of Tomorrow by Vespero. Wonderful stuff!!!

Coyote.  From this list Clivages would be a close second; not shown, Yugen - Iridule was right up there as well.

I went with the Pineapple Thief, a very strong album from start to finish. There were also great albums By Gazpacho, Spock's Beard, Anathema and Moon Safari. I found the Haken album the over-rated album in a long time

Topographic Tales: I just could not get into the Haken album at all and I found the vocals annoying. Everybody was just so effusive about it so I listened to it and IMO it's nothing special. Certainly nothing to rave about.

Oceansize, followed by Spock's Beard. Other great pieces include Mick Magnus's solo and Carptree's Nymf.

I'm really surprised by obvious hegemony of Coyote because (judging by PA reviews) it's not a favourite at all. On the other hand, Aquarius, being obvious favourite, has totally failed.

A moral: Never trust in PA reviews!Wink

It's because too many people rate albums after one listen (if even that), when certain things actually take a bit of work to sink in and properly appreciate.  That's why more accessible albums fare better on the charts than high-profile but "complicated" works.  Or, they even rate them after hearing only a live version or something (He gets it!)
