To be fair, I need to hear some Anekdoten before I vote. I know there are a lot of fans out there, would someone be willing to drop a YouTube clip of one or two of your recommended songs by Anekdoten? I have never been able to really get into Anekdoten, except Gravity. Whereas IQ are one of my top bands so I voted for them. ------------- Just give it all an hour by the concrete lake. |

No problem Roland  I picked some tracks from different albums: Hope this helps. As for myself, I actually like both bands, but recently I´ve been digging IQ - specifically the 2 first records along with the most recent.

| IQ is turning out to be much more stronger than I thought they would. First leaving Opeth in 2nd place on the groups phase. Now, at least for the moment, winning against a strong opponent as Anekdoten. We'll see if they can keep up the good pace. I know that at least John (Mellotron Storm) and SaltyJon will vote for Anekdoten when they show up. |

Crap. Why put two such wonderful groups against each other? Well, I guess in the end "there can be only one"... I actually just ordered two Anekdoten (From Within and A Time of Day) a couple of days ago. Have had Vemod, Nucleus and Gravity since fairly soon after their original releases, and love them all. (Gravity took a bit of getting used so, being so laid back, but now I love it!). As for IQ, I have all of their studio albums (well, except for Seven Stories...). Lots of great stuff, but some iffy stuff as well. I guess I'll have to go with Anekdoten... ------------- -- Frank Swarbrick Belief is not Truth. |

They do, but that's not how it works. IQ's albums on average have been given 200-ish ratings, to Anekdotens 150-some average. Shame Anekdoten's albums are also significantly rated higher... |

I never did that. On the GY!BE-Spock pairing I gave a heads up one day before, saying at which exact time I would be closing the poll. It's true that I didn't do that on the Mars Volta-Beardfish match. Not because I desperately wanted Mars Volta to win, simply because I wasn't online before or I forgot. I don't remember. Anyway, the people that voted after I close that one, all voted for TMV.
As for this one, even if I wanted to wait till some band overtakes the other, to be honest, I wouldn't know which band could be, since I like both artists pretty much the same. They are good but none of them are between my favorites. I own 3 albums by Anekdoten (Gravity, A Time Of Day and Live In Japan) and 2 by IQ (The Seventh House and Frequency).

IQ. I love Anekdoten's sound, if only they trafficked in instrumentals. The vocals ruin it for me. I don't think it's an accident that their most beloved song (Karelia) is an instrumental.
IQ on the other hand, can be so melodic, I have to go with them.
