You need to be listed on PA to get reviewed.

Also, are you offering any promo copies for reviewers?

Oh, sorry. Didn't see that rule. We'll start a thread in Suggest New Bands and Artists section.

Because we are located in Finland we think the easiest way to give our album to reviewer is to give a download link for digital copy.

Anomus is five piece progressive rock band from Finland. Formed in 2004 in Imatra, Finland. Anomus has released

I would be more than happy to interview you. See the title under my very attractive face (according to the female camels in Tuk-A-I-Noorr.......... I got some long stares from them).

Listening to the album now.......... Well, is it Post Rock, Heavy Prog or Eclectic ? I am not sure where to suggest it.

*scratching my head*

I will raise the matter in the PA HQ with the powers that is here.

Post rock it is then based on the final song.

For anyone else interested in hearing this band, you can listen to their previous EPs in full here: http://www.mikseri.net/artists/?id=34469&displ_lang=en" rel="nofollow - http://www.mikseri.net/artists/?id=34469&displ_lang=en

Also some YouTube samples from their 2007 EP "Hämärästä aamunsoittoon", 2006 EP "Valveunia", and 2005 EP "Heteromelankolia". They also did an EP called "Julkaisulta Oudot huoneet, harharetket" in 2008, and there are three more recent songs from 2010 on the mikseri.net site (the first-listed ones), so these YouTube samples may not be entirely representative of the band's current musical style, which is indeed stated to be post rock.

Actually it's just "Oudot huoneet, harharetket". "Julkaisulta" means "from the release/album".

Yes, our musical style has changed a bit over the years. First two EPs are pretty straight forward pop rock, then we wanted to try something else. Third EP is little bit more progressive/post rock than first two and the last two records sound pretty close to present Anomus.

For the full length album we took five songs from the last three EPs, but of course they are re-recorded.

That's brilliant David, thanks.

Nice band, I liked the music. Good luck guys!

The music is very tough to classify indeed, which is a good thing. I hear it as a kind of heavy alternative with stoner, psychedelic undertones and a crimsonian vibe (from Crimson's "Tool-esque" period). Which basically describes Motorpsycho, to which I would draw a connection, but Anomus is more song oriented, straightforward and catchy, without the "out-there" excursions. IMO Anomus could sit in either Heavy and Crossover, but I'll notify the Heavy Prog team first for the evaluation.

BTW unlike the band member above, I found the two early EPs to be the more progressive efforts. Tongue (On Mikseri too the "Progressive" tags disappear for the more recent EPs.)

EDIT: lol, no, I thought the tracks on Mikseri were older above and more recent down at the bottom, but I just noticed now it's vice versa actually. LOL Embarrassed

Hi guys and happy new year 2012 to everyone!

New year - new single, so there you go, our third single Sydämenlyöntejä (Heartbeats):  http://soundcloud.com/anomus/syd-menly-ntej%20" rel="nofollow - http://soundcloud.com/anomus/syd-menly-ntej

Hope you like it!

Oh, and there's also a new review in English:

http://www.jerrylucky.com/reviews%20a-e_068.htm" rel="nofollow - http://www.jerrylucky.com/reviews%20a-e_068.htm

Finland is perhaps not known for an abundance of progressive rock bands, but there are a number I could name. And now we can add one more to the list. The quintet Anomus has released their first full length CD and it’s a self-titled release available as a digital download. The young band is made up of Toni Tikkanen (vocals), Antti Piikki (guitar), Ville Keinänen (guitar, keyboards), Antti Paakki (bass) and Antto Hinkkanen (drums, percussion). The band has a little extra help from Mikko Sateila (background vocals) and Miitri Aaltonen (guitar). They create a progressive rock with the emphasis on modern rock although never prog-metal.

Anomus is composed of nine energetic tracks that prominently feature twin guitars and subtle keyboards. But while there may be some slight comparisons to bands like Wishbone Ash, the boys here have a lot of variety in their music where as one song might be more rocking in nature with dynamic musical changes inserted here and there, other songs will be a little more spacey or subdued and still offer musical change-ups. Everything tends to fit the overall feel of the song and they work within that framework. Like many young bands today Anomus has borrowed liberally from musical elements of rock’s past and assembled them together in a very contemporary fashion; songs will start soft and suddenly be loud and rocking with huge crashing chords and drums propelling the tune over the rocky landscape. You have a very dynamic structure that is exciting and yet still melodic. When the music isn’t being introspective it’s loud and raucous.

Anomusmusic is a style that will appeal to fans of bands as diverse as Porcupine Tree and Pineapple Thief and even perhaps …And you will know us by the Trail of Dead. It’s a great set of tunes that features plenty of musical scope and vision. Well worth the listen and I’d recommend fans of the bands mentioned given them a listen, I think you’ll enjoy what you hear.
